(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 9 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Cong and Ms. Meng Qingjie Officially Arrested
2. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Zhang Jianqiu’s Case Submitted to the Procuratorate
3. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Shuqin Arrested
4. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yin Liyun Arrested
5. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Mr. Zhang Jing’s Family Members Implicated in the Persecution
6. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Practitioner Li Yingtian Detained for 15 Days
7. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Rui and His Wife Ms. Guo Qinghua Arrested

1. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Cong and Ms. Meng Qingjie Officially Arrested

Ms. Liu Cong was officially arrested on July 26, 2024. The police and procuratorate did not notify her family or herself. When her family and lawyer went to the police station to demand her release on August 16, they were directed to the procuratorate, where they found out that her arrest had been approved.

Also on August 16, the family of Ms. Meng Qingjie from Shenhe District received a call from the police station, notifying them that Ms. Meng had been officially arrested.

2. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Zhang Jianqiu’s Case Submitted to the Procuratorate

Practitioner Zhang Jianqiu was arrested at home on the afternoon of June 24, 2024. The police initially gave Zhang 13 days of detention, but when it expired on July 5, instead of releasing Zhang, they transferred him or her from the Penglai Lockup to the Yantai Detention Center. Police officer Wang Longqing called Zhang’s family on August 1, 2024 that they had submitted the case to the Penglai Procuratorate.

3. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Shuqin Arrested

Ms. Wang Shuqin, 70, from Tai’anjiayuan Residential Community, talked to the technician who came to inspect her gas pipeline about Falun Gong on the afternoon of August 14, 2024. The technician reported her to the police. The police came soon to arrest her and ransack her home. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

4. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yin Liyun Arrested

Ms. Yin Liyun was arrested when she went out and talked to people about Falun Gong at 3 p.m. on August 17, 2024.

5. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Mr. Zhang Jing’s Family Members Implicated in the Persecution

When Mr. Zhang Jing returned home after serving a five-and-a-half-year prison term in November 2023, he was devastated to see his once healthy father becoming seriously ill after being dealt a hard blow of his persecution. He had high blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol, as well as Parkinson’s disease.

In addition to Mr. Zhang’s father, his grandmother was also terrified due to repeated harassment following Mr. Zhang’s arrest in 2000 for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Her terminal phase gastric cancer progressed quickly and she passed away short after Mr. Zhang was released.

6. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Practitioner Li Yingtian Detained for 15 Days

Director Wang Jun led seven or eight police officers to the home of practitioner Li Yingtian in Wei Village at 2 p.m. on July 24, 2024. They ransacked the place and confiscated Li’s Falun Gong books informational materials, music players, audio players, watches, envelopes, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.

Li suffered significant decline of the vision in the right eye during the 15-day detention. After returning home, Li still could not see things clearly with the right eye.

7. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Rui and His Wife Ms. Guo Qinghua Arrested

Mr. Wang Rui and his wife Ms. Guo Qinghua suddenly lost power at their home around 10 a.m. on July 12, 2024. When they opened the door to check out for the cause, Xu Rui and another nine police officers broke into their home and ransacked the place. They confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, and a computer. At around 5 or 6 p.m., the couple were handcuffed and taken to Shuangluan Detention Center. They weren’t released until almost 10 p.m. that night.
