Berlin Germany: Event Raises Awareness of the Persecution of Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Practitioners held an event on July 20, 2024 on Kurfürstendamm in central Berlin, the capital of Germany, to tell passersby about Falun Gong, expose the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of the practice, and its crimes of live organ harvesting from practitioners, and to read letters of support from German politicians. Professor Shieh Chih-wei, Taiwan’s representative to Germany, expressed support for practitioners’ efforts to expose the persecution.

The 3.5 km (2.2 mile) Kurfürstendamm is one of the city’s most famous avenues, and is considered the Champs-Élysées of Berlin. It’s lined with shops, luxury houses, hotels, and restaurants, including many fashion designers and several car manufacturers’ showrooms.

July 20, 2024 is the 25th anniversary of Falun Gong practitioners’ efforts to end the CCP’s persecution. On that day, Falun Gong practitioners demonstrated the exercises, and the host read letters of support from 22 German officials and dignitaries, including members of the European Parliament, federal parliament, and state parliament, who along with city councilors, sent letters, received interviews, or addressed the practitioners’ rally to express their support for their efforts to expose the persecution.

Some people were attracted by the exercise demonstration. Some of them learned the exercises on the spot, and some wanted to know what Falun Gong is and why the CCP persecutes it. After they learned the facts, many people signed a petition to support practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution.

Professor Shieh Chih-wei, Taiwan’s representative to Germany, said in an interview that he admired Falun Gong practitioners who have suffered the persecution and risked their lives but still persistently practice their beliefs. He also hopes that “those of us out there” can encourage the Falun Gong practitioners [in China] and provide them with support.
