(Minghui.org) On July 20, 2024, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Falun Gong’s peaceful protest against the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution, San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson wrote a letter to local practitioners, expressing his support and praising their courage over the past 25 years.

Joel Anderson has been concerned about the ongoing persecution and supported the practitioners’ efforts to expose it for many years. In the early days, he helped San Diego practitioners rescue family members who were detained in labor camps. During his tenure as a California State Senator, he introduced a resolution against organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners.

Below is the letter.

“I am writing to support Falun Gong’s peaceful protest against the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution, which has lasted for a quarter of a century.

“Today, July 20, marks the 25th year of the CCP’s continuous persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. This brutal and often violent repression is appalling, and I commend Falun Gong practitioners for their peaceful resistance against the CCP’s severe human rights violations.

“Falun Gong has set a powerful example of resilience and courage by maintaining peaceful in the face of oppression. Their adherence to non-violence is praiseworthy and inspires us to uphold these values within our communities. By embracing these principles, we foster a culture of respect and understanding.

“We must continue to raise awareness about the ongoing persecution faced by Falun Gong practitioners. Our community needs to recognize these issues and support efforts to uphold fundamental human rights and freedoms. We collectively acknowledge these challenges and build a more informed, engaged, and compassionate society. We can ensure that our values are upheld and understood through a collective awakening.

“Ultimately, we must continue to support and acknowledge the peaceful resistance of Falun Gong practitioners. Standing with those facing persecution, we reaffirm our commitment to our values and principles. Together, we can work towards cultivating a stronger community.

Sincerely,

Joel Anderson
