(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wei Shuyan Sentenced to Two Years in Prison
2. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Huang Shaopu Faces Trial
3. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Songxia Sentenced and Taken to Prison
4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Cong Shaoguo Arrested
5. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Cuiying Arrested
6. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Zhang Guifang’s Home Ransacked
7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Shuqi Arrested
8. [Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners Face Prosecution
9. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Yuan Ailian and Ms. Bian Lianying Detained
10. [Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ma Guizhen Detained
1. [Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wei Shuyan Sentenced to Two Years in Prison
Ms. Wei Shuyan from Fanjiatun Town was followed and arrested when she was distributing Falun Gong materials around July 20, 2023. Her home was ransacked, and her daughter Ms. Liu Qian was also arrested at the same time, but was later released. Ms. Wei was sentenced to two years in prison.
2. [Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Huang Shaopu Faces Trial
Ms. Huang Shaopu was scheduled to stand trial at Xiangyang District Court on July 11, 2024.
3. [Baoji City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Songxia Sentenced and Taken to Prison
Ms. Wang Songxia, 86, from Weibin District, is a retired nurse from Baoji City Central Hospital. She has been sentenced to one and a half years in prison and fined 5,000 yuan. She was taken to Xi’an City Women’s Prison in June 2024.
4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Cong Shaoguo Arrested
Mr. Cong Shaoguo, 67, from Wujiazi Village, Bawu Town, Gongzhuling City, was doing odd jobs at a gas station in Yitong Manchu Autonomous County. He was arrested on June 6, 2024. The police ordered him to write a guarantee statement promising to renounce Falun Gong, but he refused to cooperate.
5. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Cuiying Arrested
Ms. Zhang Cuiying was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was arrested and taken to the Hongqi Road Police Station.
6. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Zhang Guifang’s Home Ransacked
Officers from the East Huanghe Road Police Station in Jinfeng District called Ms. Zhang Guifang on June 12, 2024, and asked her to go to the police station. She did not go. Officers broke into her home the next day and ransacked the place.
7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Li Shuqi Arrested
Mr. Li Shuqi, 69, from Tiexi District, was arrested at home by officers from the Nanshi Police Station on May 9, 2024. The officers confiscated a large number of personal belongings, including a computer and a printer.
8. [Suifenhe City, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners Face Prosecution
Mr. Shen Yuguo, Mr. Zhang Zhong, Mr. Li Peng, Mr. Jiang Feng, and Ms. Wang Lei were arrested by the Suifenhe City Domestic Security Division on January 28, 2024.
The Hailin City Procuratorate twice returned their cases to the Suifenhe City Domestic Security Division in March and May 2024, citing insufficient evidence. The Domestic Security Division re-submitted the practitioners’ cases in late June.
9. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Yuan Ailian and Ms. Bian Lianying Detained
Ms. Yuan Ailian and Ms. Bian Lianying from Datong Mining District were reported to the police when they were talking to people about Falun Gong on June 3, 2024. Officers from the Qingquan Police Station in Wenyinghu Sub-district arrested them. Both practitioner were detained in Datong City Lockup for 15 days and have been released.
10. [Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ma Guizhen Detained
Ms. Ma Guizhen from the Dongfanghong Forestry Bureau was summoned by Liang Jing and other officers from the Dongfanghong Forestry Bureau Domestic Security Division on June 19, 2024. The officers confiscated her Falun Gong books and other belongings. The next day, Zhang Xin and others forcibly took her to a lockup for seven days of detention. She has since been released.
