Georgia Congressman Writes Letter to Support Falun Gong Practitioners

(Minghui.org) The Honorable U.S. Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. of Georgia’s 2nd District wrote a letter to the Falun Dafa Association of Atlanta, expressing his appreciation for the practitioners’ courage and tenacity in peacefully resisting the persecution on July 12, 2024.

July 20, 2024 marks the 25th year of the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) practitioners, and is also the 25th year of practitioners’ peacefully resisting the persecution.

Congressman Bishop wrote:

To the Falun Dafa Association of Atlanta,

I am writing to express my heartfelt support for Falun Gong practitioners worldwide, especially as we mark the 25th anniversary of their courageous resistance against oppression by the Chinese Communist Party on July 20th.

Falun Gong, rooted in principles of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, has brought spiritual and physical well-being to millions. However, since 1999, practitioners have faced severe persecution, including arbitrary detention, forced labor, and other human rights abuses.

On this solemn occasion, it is crucial to recognize the steadfast courage and resilience of Falun Gong practitioners who continue to peacefully resist persecution despite immense adversity. Their commitment to upholding fundamental human rights and freedoms serves as an inspiration to us all.

As we commemorate this anniversary, let us reaffirm our solidarity with Falun Gong practitioners and call for an end to the unjust persecution they endure. Through raising awareness and advocating for justice, we can contribute to a world where individuals can freely practice their beliefs without fear of reprisal.
