(Minghui.org) Two residents of Suining City, Sichuan Province, are facing indictment for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Pu Zexiu, an 85-year-old retired teacher, and Ms. Chen Weixin, 79, were arrested on the morning of April 1, 2024, after a plainclothes officer spotted them talking to people about Falun Gong. They were taken to the Kaixuan Road Police Station for a body search and interrogation, before being released on bail at noon.

The two women’s sons each received a phone call from the police on June 5, 2024, ordering them to bring their mothers to the police station. Ms. Pu and Ms. Chen both complied and reported to the police the next day in the company of their sons. However, instead of directly talking to them, the police had their sons sign all the paperwork. After that, the two women and their sons were taken to the Chuanshan District Procuratorate, where the staffers also just talked to the sons and had them sign all the paperwork.

Ms. Pu and Ms. Chen later learned from their sons that they had been put on bail and are awaiting indictment.

A third local woman, Ms. Yang Shengzhen, who was arrested with Ms. Pu and Ms. Chen, had her old residence and current home raided by the police. She was also released hours later. Her case status is unclear.
