Retired Auditor Still Detained After She and Her Mother-in-law are Arrested for Telling People About the Persecution of Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) Two women in Shulan City, Jilin Province, were arrested on June 2, 2024 for raising awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that follows the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.

Mrs. Peng, 83, and her daughter-in-law, Ms. Zhang Jinhua, 58, talked to people about Falun Gong that day, and were reported by a woman with a little girl. The Jishu Police Station soon arrived to arrest them and later raided their shared residence.

Mrs. Peng was released in a day or two (exact time unknown), while Ms. Zhang remained in custody at the Jishu Police Station.

Ms. Zhang, a retired auditor, had only began practicing Falun Gong in 2023 after years of medical treatments failed to cure her numerous illnesses. She gradually recovered and was no longer severely underweight. She became energetic and walked briskly. She also had a rosy complexion. More than once her acquaintances marveled at her transformation after running into her on the street. She always told them her secret was practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Zhang was also better able to cope with the death of her husband as Falun Gong enabled her to understand that there is a reason behind everything. She also became more considerate by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Even though her husband passed away, she still took meticulous care of his mother, who also practices Falun Gong. The two women however were targeted for simply telling others Falun Gong is good, and the persecution is illegal.
