Removing Personal Human Notions and Rediscovering the Compassion That a Cultivator Should Have

(Minghui.org) I was deeply touched by two of Master’s latest articles, and they led me to discover some of my shortcomings when it comes to telling people about Falun Gong.

About six months ago, I persuaded a restaurant owner and his wife to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). At the time, one of their waitresses gave me a blank look, but I didn’t talk to her because the wife had made some negative comments about her.

A month ago, I stopped by the place again and didn’t see the waitress. I asked about her and was told that she had been fired. I realized my mistake—that I had let human notions affect me; I no longer had the compassion and kindness I once did.

Master said:

“All along, since the day Dafa was first taught to the public, I have taken into consideration that human beings, and even divine beings, have committed countless sins during their many lifetimes in the long span of the universe. And this holds especially true for human beings. Lives can only be saved, when that’s the case, by having their past sins forgiven. Think about how incredibly immense Dafa’s saving grace is, how tremendous the compassion being shown is, and how sacred the divine grace that’s being bestowed is! And yet how many people have realized this? Are those who look at Dafa and Master with human attachments and in human ways demonstrating mindsets worthy of the tremendous missions being given them and the divine grace being shown them?” (“How You Should Regard and Act Toward Master’s Family Members”)

Wasn’t Master giving me a hint? I realized that there was a disconnect between what I was learning when I studied the Fa and my actual cultivation: I followed my human notions instead of the Fa principles when I did things. I was being selective and didn’t fully fulfill my responsibilities.

I was awakened when I read Master’s latest article “Wake Up:”

“Truth be told, you shouldn’t be launching personal attacks on anyone, no matter how bad the person may be (with the exception being the Chinese Communist Party’s sinister, now-deceased despot, Jiang)—and particularly not on important figures in the United States’ two major political parties. Everyone is here for the Way, and all, on some level, are awaiting deliverance from this world.”

“Or your commentaries on situations or events are based on your personal inclinations, which shouldn’t be. You are here to help rescue lives on a spiritual level, and you should be gauging things in light of Zhen, Shan, Ren—being true, kind, and forbearing.” (“Wake Up”)

Even though I didn’t personally attack anyone, I was harboring negative views about someone. After I realized this, I was full of regret. I wanted to save that waitress, but where could I find her?

Maybe Master saw my heart, because he gave me another opportunity to make up for it. That night when I was telling people about Falun Gong at the night market, someone tapped me on the shoulder from behind and called me “Auntie.” I turned around and saw the waitress with three of her friends.

In the past, I would have ignored her. But Dafa had changed me. I listened as she introduced me to her boyfriend and his two friends. Then I persuaded them to quit the CCP and told them about Dafa. Before I left, I bought each of them a Popsicle.

Back home, I thought to myself that if it weren’t for Master’s compassion, those four people might have missed the opportunity to be saved. It also made me understand Master’s compassion and that it is not easy to save people.

Dafa has cleansed me. I can’t express how I feel at the moment, but I will do my best to catch up with the Fa-rectification period cultivation.
