(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 13 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Ji Guangkui Sentenced
2. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuqin’s Appeal Accepted
3. [Huili City, Sichuan Province] Update on Ms. Luo Jiping and Four Others’ Arrest
4. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Ai’e Detained
5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Update on Ms. Wang Yu and Mr. Shi Pengxiang
6. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Zhou Wei Detained
7. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Cuijuan Detained
1. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Ji Guangkui Sentenced
Mr. Ji Guangkui was sentenced to two years in prison and was fined 3,000 yuan by the Shushan District Court on May 31, 2024.
2. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuqin’s Appeal Accepted
Ms. Zhang Xiuqin’s appeal was accepted by the Jinzhou City Intermediate Court. Judge Wang Xingzhou is overseeing the case.
Ms. Zhang, 61, was sentenced to six years in prison and was fined 12,000 yuan by the Linghai City Court on May 10, 2024. She appealed around May 13, 2024.
3. [Huili City, Sichuan Province] Update on Ms. Luo Jiping and Four Others’ Arrest
Ms. Luo Jiping, Mr. Zhao Guowei, Ma Xinli (gender unknown), and Ms. Ma Lingxian were arrested by Huili City Domestic Security officers on the evening of May 18, 2024. Ms. Zheng Zifang was arrested the next day. Mr. Zhao, Ma, and Ms. Zheng were released on May 31, 2024.
4. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Ai’e Detained
Ms. Wang Ai’e of Miyun district was arrested at home on March 22, 2024. She is being held in the Shunyi Detention Center, leaving her over eighty-year-old mother and her daughter, who is about to take the National College Entrance Examination, at home without anyone to care for them.
5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Update on Ms. Wang Yu and Mr. Shi Pengxiang
Ms. Wang Yu and her husband Mr. Shi Pengxiang are teachers at Jilin University. They were arrested at home and detained on July 20, 2021. Ms. Wang was sentenced to three years in prison. Her prison term will be finished by July 20, 2024. Mr. Shi’s situation is unknown.
6. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Zhou Wei Detained
Zhou Wei, a practitioner from Shanghai, and another practitioner were arrested by Zhangjiakou police on April 28, 2024, when they were distributing Falun Gong flyers in Zhangjiakou. They were detained.
7. [Beijing] Ms. Wang Cuijuan Detained
Ms. Wang Cuijuan was arrested and taken to the Xiwengzhuang Police Station in the Miyun District by a group of officers, who came in two police cars on the morning of March 15, 2024. She was released after she was detained for five days.
A practitioner was arrested for distributing Falun Gong flyers before the 2024 New Year, and his or her cell phone was seized by police. Ms. Wang was not aware of this and called the arrested practitioner three times. The police traced her calls, went to her home and ransacked the place. She was not there at the time.
