(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners and local officials went to the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo on May 28, 2024, to call for the immediate release of Ms. Wang Guaiyan, a Falun Dafa practitioner who has been detained by the Chinese Communist Party since April of this year.
Hiroaki Maruyama, representative of the local council of the SMG network (Stop Medical Genocide—Society for the Study of Organ Transplantation in China) and member of the Zushi City Council, read a statement in front of the Chinese Embassy and then put it in the embassy mailbox.

Representative Hiroaki Maruyama called on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to stop persecuting and imprisoning Falun Dafa practitioners, close illegal places of detention, and stop live organ harvesting. He also called for the immediate release of Ms. Wang Guaiyan, the mother of Japanese practitioner Zhang Yiwen, and the three other practitioners detained with her at the same time.
The statement called on the CCP to respect human rights and stop the persecution.
Statement in Japanese
Ms. Wang is a teacher at a vocational and technical college in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. After 1999, she was arrested, tortured, and illegally sentenced several times.
According to Minghui.org on April 11, 2024, Ms. Wang was taken away by Baoji Police Department officers from the home of another practitioner and detained in the Baoji City Second Detention Center. Her family, who requested her release, was not allowed to visit her.
Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and has benefited many people. Ms. Wang’s postpartum illness disappeared after she started practicing Falun Dafa. She has been healthy for 26 years and does not need to take medicine.
Councilor Hiroaki Maruyama Supports Practitioners
Mr. Hiroaki Maruyama said, “In early April, there were reports that four Falun Dafa practitioners, including Ms. Wang Guaiyan, were seized in China. After hearing this, I felt that I could not sit idly and decided to come here to protest. It is hard to imagine that an innocent mother was taken away for no reason and then there was no news about her. When listening to Zhang Yiwen read her open letter, although I did not understand Chinese, I could hear her pain and despair. My desire to help solve the problem intensified.”
Regarding the human rights persecution in China, Mr. Maruyama said, “Protests are part of the fight for world peace. In order to maintain world peace, we need to pay close attention to the actions of permanent members of the UN Security Council such as China and Russia and work hard to find solutions. In the process, serious human rights violations such as organ harvesting and the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and ethnic minorities have been exposed. To solve these problems, our SMG network will carry out similar activities.”
Mr. Maruyama encouraged practitioners in China, saying, “Falun Gong practitioners in China are cultivating their bodies and perfecting their personalities. I don’t understand how this can be considered a crime, or how they can be illegally detained. I am willing to speak out to the Chinese Communist Party government. Falun Gong practitioners in China are also risking their lives to call for justice, and none of this will be in vain. Please tell Falun Gong practitioners to keep persevering. I am willing to fight with you. Justice will prevail. I am willing to work hard with you.”
Mr. Maruyama said, “Justice will prevail.”
Practitioner Zhang Yiwen’s Plea
Japanese practitioner Zhang Yiwen called on conscientious people in Japan and the international community to help rescue her mother. She demanded that the CCP stop persecuting Falun Gong. She emphasized that Falun Gong practitioners persist in their belief despite the CCP’s suppression and that Falun Gong is beneficial to physical and mental health. After reading her letter, Ms. Zhang put it in the embassy mailbox.

“After asking many people, I learned that the Baoji City police began tracking Falun Gong practitioners a year ago and planned this large-scale arrest,” Ms. Zhang said. “Over the past 25 years since 1999, my mother has been illegally sentenced and imprisoned multiple times, resulting in me spending less than five years with her while I was growing up. Currently, the Baoji Second Detention Center refuses family visits. I have called many times to inquire about my mother’s situation, but the police and the detention center have refused to answer.”
