(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Xuesong, a 76-year-old Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province, resident, was sent to the Shaanxi Province Women’s Prison on January 24, 2024 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Li was arrested on August 23, 2021 after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong when she rode the bus. She was tried by the Lianhu District Court on August 12, 2022 and sentenced to three years and two months, and fined 10,000-yuan on September 11, 2023.

Ms. Li appealed to the Xi’an City Intermediate Court. The judge ruled to uphold her original verdict after hearing her appeal case on December 18, 2023. She was sent to the prison weeks later.

Since December 2002, the Shaanxi Province Women’s Prison has been used to detain female Falun Gong practitioners in the province. The newly admitted practitioners are assigned to the training team, where they are subjected to all kinds of torture and abuse. The guards also deny the practitioners’ family visitation or to meet with their lawyers if they don’t renounce their faith.
