(Minghui.org) In 1995, when my husband was still in prison for illegally logging timber to pay off his gambling debt, our house was washed away by a big flood. I was on my own, and I had to take care of our son—and everything else—even though I was in poor health.

Seeing how difficult things were for me, my brother told me about Falun Dafa. I wasn’t in the mood to look into it, but he was persistent. Every time he saw me, he urged me to practice Falun Dafa. Not wanting to disappoint him, I took up the practice. I did not realize my life would be completely changed.

In early 2000, because of the risk of flooding in our region, several neighbors and I decided to buy homeowners’ insurance. Back then, insurance was still a new concept to us, and we felt like we were taking a gamble. A few years later, a flood did indeed destroy our house again, but we were able to buy a new one with the insurance money. I believe Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa, was taking care of me, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to afford to buy a new house.

Because my husband was still addicted to gambling and didn’t take care of us, I didn’t want to live with him anymore. I was getting ready to file for divorce when I had a dream. Master hinted to me that my life was about to take a turn for the better and that I shouldn’t divorce my husband. I told another practitioner about the dream, and he encouraged me not to divorce my husband. Instead I should use this opportunity to cultivate myself.

It was the first time that I’d seriously thought about what Dafa cultivation was all about. I let go my resentment for my husband, and tried to be more forgiving and considerate. When I changed myself, my husband miraculously quit gambling and began to work diligently to support us.

Another year, our village was on another major flood watch. Given the terrain in our village, the best way to prevent flooding was to build a temporary dam across my vegetable field. I was growing beans that year and expected a decent income from selling them. When the village officials asked me about building the dam there, I immediately agreed. I told them that, if we could prevent other villagers’ houses from being damaged by the flood, I was willing to endure the loss of my beans. Many villagers later told me that they were touched by my decision and said Falun Dafa practitioners were considerate.

Knowing that Falun Dafa practitioners were good people, most of the people in the village were very supportive when we went door to door to collect signatures on a petition for a detained practitioner years later.

Every year before the New Year, I distribute calendars with information about Dafa in the village. They are popular and everyone wants one. One year I only had a few calendars to hand out, and those who didn’t get one were upset. I asked practitioners to print more calendars for me. I put them in a little cart and took them to the morning market to distribute. Even people from neighboring villages took them.

I’ve practiced Falun Dafa for years, but I haven’t experienced anything dramatic. However, I’ve always sensed that Master is with me, protecting me and guiding me. No words can express my gratitude to Master. I can only cultivate myself better to repay Master for his saving grace.
