(Minghui.org) Ms. Xiao Yingxue’s family went to pick her up on June 22, 2024, after a 15-day detention for practicing Falun Gong ended. They were shocked to learn that that she had been transferred, but they were not told where. They still don’t know where she is detained.
Ms. Xiao, a 54-year-old resident of Wuhai City, Hubei Province, was arrested outside her apartment building on June 7, 2024, by seven people from the Hanjiadun Police Station and the local street committee. One of the officers was surnamed Ai. His badge number is 028369. The plate number of his police cruiser plate is A1385. They raided her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books.
Ms. Xiao was given 15 days at the Wuhan City First Lockup. She was not released as scheduled but was secretly transferred without informing her family. The police still have not told her family where she is.
Prior to her latest persecution, Ms. Xiao was arrested numerous times in the past and brutally tortured to critical condition on more than one occasion.
Earliest Persecution
Ms. Xiao went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in late October 1999 and was arrested and escorted back to Wuhan. She was detained at a facility for 15 days (November 3-18, 1999).
1.5-Year Forced Labor Term Following Arrest in 2000
After another arrest in February 2000, Ms. Xiao was taken to the Etouwan Brainwashing Center. Officer Jin Zhiping tied her up in a chair and stuffed rags into her mouth. He showered her with punches and kicks. Her mouth had a long gash as a result of the beatings and bled profusely. She was unable to eat for one week and also had difficulty straightening her back or walking.
Ms. Xiao was given one year and three months of forced labor after she was detained for 13 months at the Etouwan Brainwashing Center. She was then moved to the Baibuting Brainwashing Center in May 2001. Not long after, she was admitted to the Hewan Labor Camp. She was savagely beaten, hung up, deprived of sleep and forced to do manual labor for long hours.
Two More Arrests Between 2003 and 2005
Ms. Xiao was released in August 2001, only to be arrested again in February 2003 and held at the Etouwan Brainwashing Center for one month. Her employer, the Qiaokou Real Estate Group, was forced to fire her after being threatened by the authorities. Her husband soon divorced her for fear of being implicated.
Ms. Xiao was taken to the same brainwashing center again in June 2005. The police beat her so badly that her nose bled profusely. She went on a hunger strike in protest and the police used pieces of bamboo to pry open her mouth, further injuring her nose. She was rushed to the hospital and fainted twice while she was being resuscitated.
Given 15 Months of Forced Labor in 2010
Ms. Xiao was arrested again on June 27, 2010 and held at the Etouwan Brainwashing Center until July 6 that year. She was then transferred to the Hewan Labor Camp to serve a term of one year and three months, which was set to end on September 26, 2011 but later extended to October 7, 2011.
She refused to renounce Falun Gong and requested to file an appeal. The labor camp guards denied her family visits in response. They also abused her using various means.
Ms. Xiao’s father and sister went to the labor camp on September 16, 2011 but were not allowed to see her on that designated visitation day. They returned ten days later but were again barred from visiting Ms. Xiao. A team lead surnamed Huang said she might be transferred to a brainwashing center after her term ended. The threat materialized as Ms. Xiao was nowhere to be seen when her father and sister went to pick her up on October 7, 2011. They were told that she was moved to the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center the day before.
Over 3 Months of Detention at Brainwashing Center After Second Labor Camp Term Expires
Ms. Xiao endured horrific torture at the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center. The police beat her, shocked her with electric batons, injected her with toxic drugs on three occasions, forced her to stand motionless for long hours, force-fed her, and verbally abused her. Captain Liu Cheng once elbowed her on the chest so hard that she almost suffocated.
Vice director Zhang Qiuming even forced Ms. Xiao to practice a different qigong. He also ordered her to rat out other Falun Gong practitioners but she firmly refused.
Ms. Xiao was released in January 2012. Not long after she returned home, she began to feel chills all over her body. She also had splitting headaches, which lasted several years. She suspected that the toxic drugs given to her might be the reason for her health issues.
Despite her condition, the local police and community workers harassed her frequently and closely watched her. She lived away from home for a period of time to avoid being monitored. The police then hunted her everywhere.
Ms. Xiao later landed a job as a civil servant at the Qiaokou District Commerce Bureau, but she was fired again because she practiced Falun Gong.
