(Minghui.org) As Shen Yun was set to begin its 2025 world tour, audiences from Nagoya, Japan and Atlanta in the U.S. were fortunate to watch the top level performing arts show on December 23, 2024.

This is the 19th season Shen Yun has performed since it was founded in 2006, with many audience members worldwide calling the show a major art and cultural event for their city. This season eight Shen Yun Performing Arts groups will bring performances to nearly 200 cities in more than 20 countries on five continents.

Shen Yun launched its North American tour at the Atlanta Symphony Hall on the evening of December 23. City Councilor Michael Julian Bond watched the performance and issued a proclamation for Shen Yun on behalf of the Atlanta City Council. He praised Shen Yun for presenting ancient Chinese traditions in a unique art form, taking the audience into an extraordinary cultural journey, and bringing inspiration to Atlanta as well as the world.

“You know, proclamations from the city of Atlanta are the highest awards that the city can present to a person, a place, or an event,” he said after watching the performance. “This fits the bill.

“These performers, the mission of Shen Yun, all of this, holds to what Atlanta values, and that is the highest expression … of demonstrating through art, through music, through performance, the beauty of what’s in our hearts and mankind,” Bond added. “The city of Atlanta is recognizing that and wanting to lend our voice in support of the mission of Shen Yun.”

Proclamation from Austin Mayor Kirk Watson

Kirk Watson, mayor of Austin, Texas, also issued a proclamation for Shen Yun. “Shen Yun is a brilliant artistic revival and celebration of China's rich cultural heritage,” he wrote in the proclamation while announcing December 26, 2024, as “Shen Yun Day.”

Since it first performed at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin in 2010, Shen Yun has come to the city every year (except during the pandemic), and has become an important art and cultural tradition in the region.

Philadelphia City Councilor Mark Squilla and two members of Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Mary Isaacson and Regina Young (from left to right), thanked Shen Yun for bringing people hope.

Numerous city councilors and members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives who watched Shen Yun in the past said they look forward to the performances this season and praised Shen Yun for bringing people hope.

Philadelphia City Council member Mark Squilla, who watched Shen Yun several times with his wife, initiated a proclamation on behalf of the city council and said, “If anybody hasn’t seen it yet, make the time to see the show. You’ll enjoy the cultural aspects of it, and you’ll enjoy the messaging of it, and you’ll feel really good after the show is over and completed.

“And if you have seen the show once, come back and see it again, because there’s always changes to the show and to the performance, and you will love every second of it,” he added.

Mary Isaacson has issued proclamations to Shen Yun several times since she became a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 175th district in Philadelphia in 2019. She thanked Shen Yun for its dedication to culture and said the performance presents China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture in the form of dance and art.

During a recent interview, Isaacson said she was glad to hear that Shen Yun’s performance was a great success and the tickets were sold out. She was happy that more people appreciate the beauty of Shen Yun’s performances.

Regina Young, another member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from the 185th district in Philadelphia County, said she is absolutely confident that Shen Yun brings people hope.

“I remember that it told a very cultural and important story, and I think it’s something that everybody should experience at least once, especially as we are a diverse nation and a diverse Commonwealth,” she explained. “I will do everything I possibly can to make sure that I go see it again. Absolutely.”

Congratulatory letters for Shen Yun were recently received from Giampiero Leo (a member of the regional council of Piemonte, Italy) and Federico Rocca (Rome City Councilor).

Leo, Giampiero Leo, Vice Chair of the Human Rights Committee of Piedmont Province, said Shen Yun inspired people to help each other and reminds them of the beautiful things in history. The performance also shows people that by finding their inner kindness and abandoning hatred, prejudice and greed for power, we will see a better future.

In his letter, Rocca congratulated Shen Yun on embarking on another extraordinary tour including performances in Italy. Impressed by Shen Yun’s artistry and virtuosity, he was glad the tour would come to the Teatro di Roma, and said it brings a unique and exciting show to the capital city.
