(Minghui.org) After Ms. Yan Qing’s husband passed away, she relied on the 280-yuan survivor benefit and 140-yuan low income subsidy every month to get by.

When the 75-year-old Macheng City, Hubei Province, resident, went to her bank to make cash withdrawals on December 4, 2024, she was shocked to see that there was only a 12-yuan balance on her account. The teller showed her a transaction record dated December 2, where a staffer from the Macheng City Court arrived and withdrew 4,900 yuan from her account, which only had a 4,912-yuan balance to begin with.

Accompanied by her daughter, Ms. Yan went to the court the next day. Only her daughter was allowed inside to talk to the court staffer.

“Why did you steal money from my mother’s bank account?” she asked him.

“How dare you come to ask for the money back? She still owes us 100 yuan!” the court staffer replied. He went on to say that Ms. Yan was arrested on January 31, 2023 for promoting Falun Gong in Tiemengang Village and was sentenced to three years with a 5,000-yuan fine on July 4, 2024.

“My mom is following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance to be a good person and what’s wrong with that?” asked her daughter.

Not wanting to continue the conversation, the court staffer drove the daughter out.

It’s not clear whether the court planned to take Ms. Yan into custody to serve the three-year term.
