Additional Persecution News from China – March 25, 2023 (20 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 43 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Ms. Yao Xiaoyan Sentenced to Four Years and Six Months in Prison

Ms. Yao Xiaoyan was sentenced to four years and six months in prison by the Xixia District Court. She appealed but the original verdict was upheld by the Yinchuan Intermediate Court. It was recently learned that Ms. Yao was taken to the Ningxia Women’s Prison.

2. [Beijing] Ms. Lang Dongyue Faces Trial

Ms. Lang Dongyue from the Yanqing District of Beijing will be tried again in the Xuanhua District Old Court in Zhangjiakou City on March 28, 2023. The first hearing, which was held in the Xuanhua District New Court on March 8, 2023, was halted due to insufficient evidence and unclear facts.

3. [Langfang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Fan Meiling Arrested

Ms. Fan Meiling was arrested at her apartment by officers from the Nanmenwai Police Station on the afternoon of March 2, 2023. She was placed under official arrest by the Wen’an County Procuratorate on March 15, 2023. Ms. Fan is currently detained in the Langfang City Detention Center.

4. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Liang Meijiao Arrested

Ms. Liang Meijiao, in her 80s, was arrested at home by officers from the Wuzhou Police Station on February 24, 2023. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated several Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a Minghui wall calendar, etc. She was released later that day.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhou Donghong and her husband from Erdao District were arrested at home by officers from the Rongguang Road Police Station on February 19, 2023. Ms. Zhou was denied admission by the detention house due to high blood pressure and was released the next day.

Mr. Wang Zhiguo was arrested by four officers from the Yangjiatun Police Station on February 22, 2023. His home was ransacked and his Falun Gong books were confiscated. Mr. Wang was detained for 10 days in the Weizigou Detention Center.

6. [Linqu County, Shandong Province] Ms. Gong Dianmei and Ms. Dou Jinxian Arrested

Ms. Gong Dianmei and Ms. Dou Jinxian were arrested by officers from the Chengli Police Station around 3 p.m. on March 3, 2023, when they were reading Zhuan Falun. Their homes were ransacked. In Ms. Gong Dianmei’s home, the police confiscated the wall posters, Minghui Weekly, a satellite receiver, and other items. In Ms. Dou Jinxian’s home, the police confiscated over 10 Falun Gong books, a laptop, a cell phone, Minghui Weekly, a satellite receiver, etc. The practitioners refused to cooperate during interrogation. They were released later that day.

7. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Mr. Liu Yong and His Wife Ms. Jiang Qiongying Arrested

Mr. Liu Yong was arrested at his son’s home by officers from the Xihu District Police Department around 6 a.m. on March 22, 2023. The police ransacked his son’s home and confiscated Mr. Liu’s Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a media player, a desktop computer, etc. The police also went to the home of his wife Ms. Jiang Qiongying. They confiscated many Falun Gong books, a media player, and other items. Ms. Jiang was arrested and taken to the Xihu Police Department. The couple was released at 5 p.m.

8. [Songzi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Hu Guorong’s Husband Sentenced to Prison

Mr. Zhao Chengming, husband of Ms. Hu Guorong and a non-practitioner, was arrested when trying to stop the police from arresting his wife on August 5, 2022. He was sentenced to six months in prison in late August 2022. His lawyer defended his innocence during the trial. He was released in early February 2023.

9. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Changkuan and His Wife Ms. Wang Cuihua Arrested

Mr. Yang Changkuan and his wife Ms. Wang Cuihua were arrested at home by officers from the Kunlun Town Police Station and the Boshan District Police Department on the morning of March 23, 2023. Their home was ransacked. Ms. Wang Cuihua was released but her husband Mr. Yang is still detained in the Boshan District Detention Center.

10. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Eight Practitioners Persecuted

The following practitioners were sentenced in recent months.

Ms. Liu Yanmei was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined 50,000 yuan;Ms. Meng Fanyun was sentenced to two years and two months in prison and fined 20,000 yuan;Ms. Han Dan was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison and fined 10,000 yuan;Mr. Li Xuerong was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan;Ms. Guo Yunfang was sentenced to one year and six months in prison with a two-year probation, and fined 10,000 yuan;Mr. Guo Hongyan was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan;Ms. Chen Xiaohong was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and fined 20,000 yuan;Mr. He Baiqing was sentenced to two years in prison.

11. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Liu Yongfen Persecuted

Ms. Liu Yongfen was reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong and was arrested at home in Fall, of 2022. She was released and placed under residential surveillance.

Ms. Liu was harassed at home several times before the Chinese New Year of 2023. She was threatened with imprisonment. Ms. Liu left her home in February 2023 to avoid further persecution. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

12. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Cao Meiying and Ms. Cao Chunmei Arrested

Ms. Cao Meiying was arrested at home by officers from the Muyang Lake Police Station in the Xisaishan District on the afternoon of March 15, 2023. Her home was ransacked. Over 10 Falun Gong books and a media player were confiscated. Ms. Cao was interrogated in the police station for over five hours. She was taken to the Fenglieshan Detention House the next day but was denied admission due to her high blood pressure.

Ms. Cao Chunmei, sister of Ms. Cao Meiying, was arrested by officers from the Hongqiqiao Police Station in Huangshigang District on the evening of March 17, 2023. She was taken to the Fenglieshan Detention House and detained for five days. She was released on the morning of March 22, 2023.

13. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Deng Arrested

Practitioner Deng was arrested at the gate of Ziyuan Community in Hebei University on the afternoon of March 24, 2023.

14. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Jin Guizhi and Ms. Lin Zhenying Arrested

Ms. Jin Guizhi, 81, and Ms. Lin Zhenying, 61, were taken by officers from the Yuqiu Lake Police Station and the Gaotang County Police Department to the Liaocheng City Detention Center on March 23, 2023. They were denied admission due to their high blood pressure and were released that evening.

15. [Nong’an County, Jilin Province] Ms. Xie Lijuan Arrested

Ms. Xie Lijuan was arrested at home by twelve officers including Li Weijian from the Debiao Police Station on March 7, 2023. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly, Zhengjian Weekly, etc. Ms. Xie was taken to the police department for interrogation. She was detained for thirteen days in the Nong’an County Detention Center and was released on bail pending trial. She was watched after she was released.

16. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Jian Arrested

Ms. Jian from Heping District was arrested downstairs at the building where she lives, by officers from the Maluwan Police Station around 6 p.m. on March 15, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was released the next day due to her high blood pressure.

17. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Gao Wenyan Arrested

Ms. Gao Wenyan from Balinzuoqi was arrested on the morning of March 21, 2023. The police ransacked her beauty shop and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a cell phone, etc. That evening, she was released on bail pending trial.

18. [Laixi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Hu Cuixiang Arrested

Ms. Hu Guixiang from Hetoudian Town was arrested on March 6, 2023. She has been released.

19. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Suo Fengyun Arrested

Ms. Suo Fengyun from Tiexi District, 82, was arrested by two officers from the Baogong Police Station when she talked to a person about Falun Gong on February 16, 2023. She was taken to the Hunhe Police Station in Heping District for interrogation. She was released at 6 p.m.

20. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Nine Practitioners Persecuted

Three practitioners, Mr. Gao Minghui, Mr. Liu Dequn, and Mr. Wu Zhongmin, were arrested by officers from the Ximatan Police Station and the Honghuagang District Police Department in early March 2023 for distributing information about Falun Gong and talking to people about Falun Gong. Mr. Liu Dequn and Mr. Wu Zhongmin were detained for 15 days in the Nanbai Detention House. It is unknown where Mr. Gao Minghui was detained.

After Mr. Wu Zhongmin was released home, the police suddenly went there on March 18, 2023, and arrested six practitioners who were reading Zhuan Falun. The practitioners are Mr. Zhang Shougang, Ms. Mao Rong, Ms. Qian Kerong, Ms. Pu Tingrong, Ms. Li Rong, and Ms. Lu. The police confiscated all their books and body-searched them. The practitioners were interrogated in the police department and were released around 4 a.m. the next morning.
