Additional Persecution News from China – March 2, 2023 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 20 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Li Xuesong Tried

Ms. Li Xuesong from the Weiyang District was tried at the Lianhu District Court on the afternoon of February 10, 2023. Ms. Li insisted that she did not agree to hold the hearing via video link. The judge tried to mislead Ms. Li and her lawyer to agree to a video hearing. The judge gave Ms. Li’s lawyer a hard time on various occasions. The lawyer had to go to the detention center and ask Ms. Li to write up the application to not hold the trial via video link.

2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Bin Arrested

Ms. Wang Bin, 36 or 37 years old, lives in Longhuxifu Indigenous Community, Tiexi District. Around 9 p.m. on February 27, 2023, police officers knocked on her door. They kept knocking until around 7:30 a.m. the next morning. When Ms. Wang’s family member opened the door, seven or eight officers rushed in and took Ms. Wang to the Kunminghu Police Station in the Development Zone.

3. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhen Mingfeng and Ms. Wang Chunxiao Arrested

Ms. Zhen Mingfeng and Ms. Wang Chunxiao went to a village in Shangkou Town to distribute truth-clarification materials on the afternoon of February 22, 2023.

Ms. Wang drove a quadricycle. She and Ms. Zhen were arrested shortly after they got off the quadricycle by seven or eight officers who were waiting there for some time. The next morning Ms. Zhen was taken back home. That afternoon, officers from the Shangkou Town Police Station called her to take pictures and press her fingerprints. She refused to cooperate with them. Afterwards, community management personnel assisted the police and knocked on her door numerous times to harass her.

Ms. Wang has been held in the detention center.

4. [Donggang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Meihua Arrested

Ms. Liu Meihua was reported to the police while clarifying the truth at the Majiadian farmers market on January 14, 2023. The police got her license plate number from the report. At noon, six officers came to her home and said that she had been reported. They found four amulets in her bag. They videotaped the contents of her cell phone, took six Falun Gong books, and took her to the Majiadian Police Station. She was released early that evening.

On February 23, an officer from the police station arrested her. She is being held in the Tangchi Detention Center in Dandong City.

5. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Du Dacun Arrested Within Six Months of Completing Previous Prison Term

Du Dacun from (gender unknown) the Bincheng District was sentenced to one year and two months in prison previously, and was released six months ago.

On the morning of February 8, one person from the Bincheng District Domestic Security Division, Cao Xinliang from the 610 Office, and two people from the Bincheng Police Station broke into Du’s home, confiscated Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong. They arrested Du, who is now being held in the Binzhou City Detention Center.

6. [Xingtai City, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Hongqian and His Wife Ms. Ju Yuxia Face Trial

Mr. Zhang Hongqian and his wife Ms. Ju Yuxia, in their 60s, from Nanqianshan Village, Sizhilan Town, Ningjin County, were arrested and their home was ransacked on July 6, 2022. They have been held in Ningjin County Detention Center and the Xingtai City No. 1 Detention Center respectively. They have been held for more than seven months and are currently facing trial by the Ningjin County Court.

7. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhang Xingchao Faces Trial

Ms. Zhang Xingchao, was sentenced to six months of residential surveillance for sending truth-clarification materials to the court, procuratorate, and public security organizations in July and August in 2022. She will be tried on March 7, 2023.

8. [Li County, Hebei Province] Ms. Niu Junzhi and Ms. Bian Xiaohui Arrested

Ms. Niu Junzhi and Ms. Bian Xiaohui from Dongpangguozhuang Village, Daqudi Township, were arrested by officers from the Xiyan Town Police Station in Gaoyang County while telling people about Falun Gong at the Likou Village, Xiyan Town. The two practitioners are being held in the Gaoyang County Detention Center.

9. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Yufen Arrested

Ms. Wang Yufen was arrested on February 25, 2023.

10. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhang Chuanfang Arrested

Mr. Zhang Chuanfang was arrested by police officers who were staked out near his home on the morning of February 25, 2023.

11. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Daxia Held in Custody

Practitioner Daxia (gender unknown) from Xinzhuang Township was arrested by officers from the Yushu City Domestic Security Division and the township police station. These officers, who arrived in two cars, also ransacked Daxia’s home. Daxia was released after being held in the police department for two days.

12. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Decheng and His Wife Ms. Ma Shuhua Arrested

On the morning of February 25, 2023, the police department chief directed and personally led officers from the Domestic Security Division and several police stations to break into the home of 78-year-old Mr. Li Decheng. They arrested Mr. Li and his 73-year-old wife Ms. Ma Shuhua.

They confiscated more than 90 copies of Falun Gong books, a desktop computer and two laptop computers, two printers, 500 yuan worth of printer paper, a large and a small paper cutter, two staplers, three cell phones, two videos players, three audio players, USB flash drives, and memory cards, among other items.

Ms. Ma was then taken to a police station in downtown Dehui City for interrogation. Due to her physical condition, she was picked up by her family members in the early morning of February 26. On February 25, they took Mr. Li to the Xiajiadian Police Station for interrogation. Practitioner Mr. Liu Zhongrong who went to visit the couple, was also arrested. Mr. Liu’s whereabouts are unknown.

The officers also arrested Ms. Ma’s younger sister Ms. Ma Shuhua (a non-practitioner), who came to visit from the countryside, and took the 100 yuan she had in her bag. She was then taken to the Dajiagou Police Station. Immediately afterwards, the officers took her back to her home in the countryside and ransacked the place.

13. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhou Yuexin Arrested

Seven or eight officers, including Sun and Xu Guangyou from the Liuyuan Police Station in Dongchangfu District, ransacked the home of 74-year-old Ms. Zhou Yuexin on February 2, 2023. They confiscated several Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and MP3s. They took Ms. Zhou to the police station and released her that afternoon.

On February 13, officers Sun and Xu returned and took Ms. Zhou to the district police department for interrogation.

14. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Wang Min Detained

Wang Min (gender unknown) from Nong’an County was arrested at workplace by Changchun City Police Department on February 19, 2023. After being held in police custody for five nights, Wang was taken to the Weizigou Detention Center in the Xinglongshan area on February 24.

15. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Ma Yunying and Ms. Pei Yunge Arrested

Ms. Ma Yunying and Ms. Pei Yunge from Suning County were reported to the police by village officials while distributing information about Falun Gong in Wangjiazuo Village, Shaozhuang Township, Suning County, on the evening of February 21, 2023. The officers from Shaozhuang Township Police Station arrested the two practitioners and interrogated them.

Afterwards, three officers took them to the Suning County Hospital for a physical examination. The practitioners escaped from the hospital when the officers were not paying attention.

On February 25, Miao Shengli, head of the Suning County Domestic Security Division, completed the paperwork for arrest warrants and was ready to arrest the two practitioners the following day based on information from surveillance cameras.

On February 26, officers from the Domestic Security Division located the practitioners’ homes and took them to the Shisu Detention Center in Suning County. However, they failed the physical examination and the detention center refused to admit them.

The two were released in the middle of the night and told to continue to go to the police station at 2 o’clock the next afternoon.

On the afternoon of February 27, an officer from the Suning County Domestic Security Division came to take them for a physical examination. It turned out that one practitioner’s blood pressure was as high as 260, and the other had a heart problem. Both practitioners were released that afternoon.
