Ms. Wang Rongyuan from Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province, was taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on November 11, 2022, to serve time for practicing Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang was arrested on February 6, 2022 while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. The police broke her arm while dragging her to the police station. Her home was ransacked two days later, and her Falun Gong materials, computer, printer, and a DVD burner were confiscated.
Ms. Wang was first held at the Liaoyuan City Lockup for 15 days, then transferred to the Liaoyuan City Detention Center. The Minghui.org website recently confirmed that she was sentenced to three years and nine months of prison time. Her family was kept in the dark about her sentencing.
According to available data collected by Minghui.org, 338 Falun Gong practitioners in Jilin Province were arrested, and 384 were harassed in 2022. Forty more Jilin practitioners were sentenced to prison, and four others passed away due to the persecution.
