(Minghui.org) Minghui.org recently confirmed that Ms. Liu Yitao from Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, has been taken to the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison to serve a three-and-a-half-year term for practicing Falun Gong. Her latest sentence follows a previous prison term of 13 years given in 2009.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind and body improvement practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu, a 50-year-old former lecturer at Jiangxi Radio and Television University, was arrested in 2022 after being reported by a delivery worker for talking to him about Falun Gong. She was repeatedly beaten and verbally abused by her cellmates in the Nanchang City No.1 Detention Center.
The local court secretly sentenced her to three-and-a-half years months later. Other details about her case aren’t clear.
Ms. Liu was previously arrested on May 8, 2008, also for talking to people about Falun Gong. The Qingyunpu District Court sentenced her to 13 years in February 2009. She was released in 2015 after spending six years in the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison.
