(Minghui.org) The Minghui.org website recently confirmed that two Guiyang City, Guizhou Province residents have been taken to the Guizhou Province No. 1 Women’s Prison, for their faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhao Yue was arrested at home on the evening of March 12, 2020. She was released on bail and put on house arrest, after one month of detention. The police took her back into custody and sent her to the Sanjiang Detention Center on May 10 when the local Procuratorate approved her arrest. She stood trial at Nanming District Court on September 19, 2020 and was later sentenced to a six-year prison term.
The other Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Guo Yongfeng, was arrested on February 28, 2022, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials. A third practitioner, Ms. Wang Hongfen, was arrested with her and released on March 2. Ms. Guo was held at the Sanjiang Detention Center and later sentenced to three years in prison. Both she and Ms. Zhao have been transferred to prison.
Ms. Zhao’s Past Persecution
Ms. Zhao, a 65-year-old former lecturer at Guizhou University, took up Falun Gong in 1995. Shortly after the persecution started, in November 1999 and February 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was arrested both times, and tortured and shocked with electric batons by Beijing police.
Ms. Zhao was given a two-year labor camp term in March 2001 and another three-year labor camp term in April 2004. She was also fired by her university.
Ms. Zhao was arrested again on April 21, 2014 and held at the Lannigou Brainwashing Center for three months. The guards deprived her of sleep, forced her to stand for long hours without moving, denied her of restroom use, and subjected her to freezing torture.
Ms. Guo’s Past Persecution
Ms. Guo, around 71 years old, retired from a construction engineering company. She used to suffer from severe lumbar disc herniation and rheumatism, both of which disappeared after she took up Falun Gong. Fearing the persecution, she stopped practicing Falun Gong after 1999, only to have many of her ailments relapse. Her family sought all kinds of treatments for her, but none helped significantly. With no other option, she resumed practicing Falun Gong and regained her health.
Because she shared her story with others, she was reported to the police and arrested on April 11, 2005. She was given a two-year labor camp term after 15 days of administrative detention. At the Guizhou Province Women’s Forced Labor Camp, she was forced to sit on a small stool for extended hours, deprived of sleep, forced to work without pay, and subjected to brainwashing aimed at forcing her to renounce Falun Gong.

Ms. Guo was arrested again on June 28, 2019, after being followed by plainclothes officers while talking to people about Falun Gong. She was held at the Lengshuigou Detention Center for 15 days.
