Additional Persecution News from China – February 27, 2023 (13 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 31 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Li Fenyu and Ms. Chen Dongmei Detained

Ms. Li Fenyu, 66, and Ms. Chen Dongmei, 66, were arrested by officers from the Qingyunpu District Police Department on the morning of February 22, 2023. Someone reported them for telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were held for five days in the Erqibeilu Detention Center.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Nine Practitioners Arrested

Many practitioners were arrested on February 25, 2023, in a coordinated police raid led by the Dehui City Police Department. Police stations in all close-by towns and townships participated. It is known that the following practitioners were among those arrested: Ms. Xie Yunxiang, He (first name and gender unknown), Mr. Zheng Yumin and his wife, Liu Zhongrong (gender unknown), Ms. Wang Guiying, Ms. Wang Xiuqin, Ms. Zhuang Hongyan, Li Decheng (gender unknown), and Su (first name and gender unknown). Ms. Wang Xiuqin and Ms. Zhuang Hongyan were released the next day.

3. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ma Zhiru Arrested

Ms. Ma Zhiru was arrested after 4:00 p.m. on February 15, 2023. Three female officers and more then ten male officers from the Linghe Police Department and police stations under its jurisdiction went to her home in three police cars. They violently dragged her out and pushed her into a police car, while a female officer videotaped the process.

4. [Deyang City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zhou Yubao Detained

Mr. Zhou Yubao, 60, was arrested on his way to a post office by officers from the Domestic Security Division on the morning of February 24, 2023. They ransacked his home. He is being held in the Shifang Detention Center.

5. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Ms. Zhou Na was harassed at home by officer Zhang Xiaodong and five assistant officers from the Jinsheng Police Station on the morning of February 24, 2023. They tried to photograph her, but she did not cooperate.

Her parents, Ms. Gao Jiping and Mr. Zhou Shaoshan, were harassed at home the same day by three officers from the Hepingnanlu Criminal Brigade. They said Ms. Gao would be taken for a physical exam and the results submitted to the Taiyuan City Intermediate Court.

Ms. Gao was arrested on September 7, 2019. She was released on bail for medical treatment after being held for 12 days in the Taiyuan City No. 4 Detention Center. The Wanbolin District Court sentenced her to three years in prison in January 2021. The Wanbolin District Procuratorate and the court twice took her to undergo a physical exam. She was released on bail twice for medical reasons.

6. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Practitioner Li Arrested

Li (first name and gender unknown) of Dehui City was arrested on February 25, 2023. It is not known where Li was arrested or where Li is now.

7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Shuyun Arrested Twice

Ms. Sun Shuyun was arrested on July 18, 2022. Officers from the Shuini Community pretended to be community clerks and asked her to come to the community office. They arrested her and attempted to send her to administrative detention. She was released five hours later. They confiscated her resident identification card, cell phone, Falun Gong flyers, and other belongings that she carried with her.

She was arrested again on the afternoon of October 19, 2022, by plainclothes officers from the Xinmin Police Station, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.

Hulan Domestic Security Division officer Zhang Xueying and others seized her key from her bag and ransacked her home. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, notebook computer, and other items.

8. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhuang Xiankun and Wife Ms. Han Yanli Arrested

Mr. Zhuang Xiankun and his wife, Ms. Han Yanli, live in the Changchun City Motor District. They were arrested on their way to work on the morning of February 24, 2023, by officers waiting there. The officers, who were from the Xixin Police Station in Luyuan District, confiscated Falun Gong books and other belongings from their home.

9. [Beijing] Two Practitioners Detained, Two Imprisoned

Ms. Zhang Qianying was held in the Dongcheng District Detention Center before being admitted to the affiliated No. 2 Hospital on October 15, 2022. Why she was admitted to hospital and what her situation is, are unknown.

Ms. Zhang Sulin, a Beijing diplomat, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and will be sent to prison.

Ms. Lin Chunfen was sentenced to three years in prison. She has been incarcerated.

Ms. Shao Xirong, born in 1968, from Wendeng, Shandong Province, was held in the Dongcheng District Detention Center for more than six months. She was abused, and developed a mental disorder as a result.

10. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Ms. Su Cuizhi Arrested

Ms. Su Cuizhi was arrested by officers from the Dehui City Police Department on February 25, 2023.

11. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Four Practitioners Harassed, One Arrested

Ms. He Ping was arrested at home by officer Cai Wusong and others from the Jiayu County Police Department on the morning of February 17, 2023. The officers seized all of her Falun Gong books and her house keys. She was carried from the third floor to a police car by several officers. They took her twice to the Cibi Detention Center, but the center did not take her because doctors found two tumors in her lung during her physical exam. After being held for two days and one night, she was released to her daughter.

Peng (first name and gender unknown) and three other practitioners were reading a Falun Gong book in Peng’s home when local community clerks and police station officers suddenly showed up. They threatened the practitioner, “All of you will be arrested if we see you together again.”

12. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Guilan Detained, Ms. Wang Lihua Released

Ms. Li Guilan was detained. She was charged with disturbing social order and undermining law enforcement.

Ms. Wang Lihua was released after her second arrest.

13. [Chizhou City, Anhui Province] Mr. Chen Guojun Tried in Court

Mr. Chen Guojun of Qingyang County was arrested by local Domestic Security Division officers. The Qingyang County Court heard his case recently. The judge has not yet announced a decision.
