(Minghui.org) A 50-year-old Yongji County, Jilin Province resident has recently been transferred to prison to serve a six-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Xu Lina, 50, was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on the street on May 19, 2020, when a police car stopped in front of her and several officers dragged her inside. The elderly man she was talking to was also pulled into the car and taken to the police station for a brief interrogation.
After interrogating Ms. Xu about her personal information, the police pushed her into the police car and drove to her home. When she refused to enter her apartment building, the police took her back to the police station, searched her for the second time, and interrogated her again.
At the same time, another group of officers broke into Ms. Xu’s place and confiscated her Falun Gong books and photos of Falun Gong’s founder. She was released later in the day.
The police harassed Ms. Xu again on September 3, 2020. They broke the lock of her front door. But after Ms. Xu firmly stated she would not let them inside, the police relented and left.
While taking a taxi on December 17, 2020, Ms. Xu talked to the driver about Falun Gong, without knowing that he reported her. Shortly after she got out of the taxi, a group of officers surrounded and arrested her. She hurt her head during the arrest and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
After a year at the Jilin City Detention Center, Ms. Xu was secretly sentenced to six years and taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison. Because her family hasn’t been allowed to see her since her arrest, no further details are available.
Since the onset of the persecution, Ms. Xu has been harassed several times and had her Falun Gong books confiscated by the police.
