Additional Persecution News from China – February 20, 2023 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 8 provinces, where at least 27 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Shi Juntao Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Ms. Shi Juntao, 64, from Nanliu Town in Fangzi District, was arrested at home by officers from the Nanliu Police Station on the morning of June 25, 2022. Her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her printer, computer and other printing-related materials. Ms. Shi was later released on bail pending trial.

Ms. Shi was sentenced to one year in prison by the Fangzi District Court on December 16, 2022. She appealed to the intermediate court but the original verdict was recently upheld.

2. [Beijing] Mr. Xu Xuekun and His Wife Ms. Bai Shuhui Face Trial

Mr. Xu Xuekun and his wife Ms. Bai Shuhui from Dashiwo Town in Fangshan District were scheduled to be tried by the Liangxiang Court at 9 a.m. on February 24, 2023.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Wang Jian Faces a Trial

Wang Jian (gender unknown), an assistant engineer in the Harbin Railway Bureau, was scheduled to be tried online at 9 a.m. on February 21, 2023 by the Yilan County Court.

4. [Chongqing] Ms. Liu Guibi Arrested

Ms. Liu Guibi from Shuitu Town, Beipei District, was arrested on February 16, 2023.

5. [Xinji City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Guili Arrested

Ms. Wang Guili from Qinghewan, over 70, was arrested by officers from the Xinji Police Station on the afternoon of February 15, 2023. She was taken to the No.2 Detention Center of Shijiazhuang City.

6. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Xu Shengying Arrested

Ms. Xu Shengying was reported to police for distributing information about Falun Gong and was summoned to the Shanli’an Police Station at 11 a.m. on February 17, 2023. Her home was ransacked. She was released that evening.

7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang and Ms. Lian Arrested

Ms. Zhang and Ms. Lian were arrested by officers from the Balipu Police Station on February 19 2023.

8. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Song Xiaomei Taken to Prison

Ms. Song Xiaomei from Wafangdian City was taken to a prison in Shenyang City around December 2022. Two months have passed, but her family has not received the notice of admission yet.

9. [Chongqing] Ms. Ling Dan’s Parents Persecuted

Ms. Ling Dan, 45, is an attending physician in the Department of Ophthalmology, People’s Hospital in Yuzhong District. Her parents were harassed, arrested and detained for years because they practiced Falun Gong. Her mother Ms. Wang Yuanlan died at home alone in March 2010. Her father Mr. Ling Pengcheng was a principal engineer in the Sichuan Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources and an expert on landslide control in the Three Gorges Reservoir area designated by the State Department. He passed away in May 2015.

10. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Three Practitioners Persecuted

Three practitioners with the family names of, Fu, Jiang or Li respectively, were arrested by officers from the Qiuchang Street Police Station in Jiang’an District in November 2021. They were taken to a brainwashing center and were not released until the end of December 2021. The three practitioners were recently taken to undergo physical exams. They were summoned again on February 14, 2023. It is likely that they would be tried in court soon.

11. [Tianjin] Mr. Huang Liqiao Detained

Mr. Huang Liqiao was arrested in October 2022. He is currently held in the Hedong Detention Center.

12. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Jin Arrested

Mr. Wang Jin was arrested by officers from the Dongli Police Station in the Qiaoxi District on February 17, 2023. He is currently held in the police station.

13. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Min Arrested

Ms. Wang Min was arrested at her workplace at 9 a.m. on February 19, 2023. A cell phone and several books were confiscated.

14. [Beijing] Ms. Yang Guang Harassed

Ms. Yang Guang has been harassed over the phone several times by officers in the Datun Police Station in Chaoyang District. The police threatened to go to her home.

Ms. Yang was arrested by officers from the Deshengmen Police Station in early 2019 for distributing information about Falun Gong. She was held for 10 days in the Dongcheng Detention Center. Since then, she and her family members have been constantly harassed.

15. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Sun Yushan Sentenced to Three Years and Three Months in Prison

Mr. Sun Yushan was sentenced to three years and three months and fined 10,000 yuan by the Liuyang City Court.

16. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Fu Lanfen Arrested

Ms. Fu Lanfen from Jiutai District and another practitioner were arrested by officers from the Donghu Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong on February 17, 2023. The two practitioners are held in the Jiutai District Detention Center.

17. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Lin Chunzi Missing

Ms. Lin Chunzi, in her 80s, has not been heard from since February 16, 2023.
