Additional Persecution News from China – January 19, 2023 (7 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ten Shenze County Practitioners Still Imprisoned

Ten practitioners from Shenze County are still imprisoned. Ms. He Hongyan, Ms. Liu Xiaomiao, Ms. Liu Yuru, Ms. Jiao Yaqin, Ms. Ma Tongxin, and Ms. Tian Xuan have been held in the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 for more than a year. Mr. Du Guofang and Mr. Liu Chengwu have been held in the Jinzhou City Detention Center for more than a year. Ms. Yuan Wenge has been held in the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 Detention Center since she was arrested. Peng Jingjun is being held in the Shenze County Detention Center.

The Jinzhou Court scheduled the practitioners’ trial, except for Ms. Yuan Wenge and Peng Jingjun, on November 2, 2022. But it was canceled because of the pandemic.

2. [Beijing] Ms. Jia Yanru Faces Trial

Ms. Jia Yanru, around 66, of the Xicheng District, was arrested on July 7, 2022, by officers from the Chengzi Police Station in the Mentougou District. The officers cut off the power to her apartment from outside and arrested her when she went out to check. They ransacked her place and seized over 80 Falun Gong books, computers, printers, and other items. Her case was filed to the court.

She was sent to forced labor camps several times and sentenced twice for a total of more than ten years in prison for practicing Falun Gong.

3. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Shuangling Detained

Ms. Wu Shuangling, nearly 60, of Dasishang Town, was arrested on January 14, 2023, when she was distributing Falun Gong flyers. She has been held in the Linzhang Detention Center.

4. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Xiurong’s Pension Suspended

Ms. Gao Xiurong of Muling Town was arrested in 2014 and imprisoned. After she was released in 2018, she applied for her identity card and 40 yuan in pension to the Muling Forestry Bureau. But the clerks intentionally made things difficult for her and never issued it to her. She called many times. One clerk asked, “Do you believe I can suspend your pension?” Within two months, her pension was suspended. She has lived without any pension for two and a half years and without her identity card for four years.

Her niece went to the police station for her identity card on January 18, 2023. Police Department director Zhou Zhongsen told her to come back and pick it up the next day. When they went there on January 19, an officer started his police camcorder and said he received several calls from the U.S. and the callers urged him to withdraw from the Chinese Community Party. He ordered her to sign three statements renouncing Falun Gong in exchange for her identity card.

5. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Qiuping Has Her First Family Visit

Ms. Wang Qiuping has not seen her family for three years, from February 2020 to January 2023. She was not allowed to call her family after she was imprisoned on January 9, 2022. Her family did not have any news about her for a year. Her child finally met her for 10 minutes after the prison opened for family visits. The guards stood beside her and beside her child. During the visit, she did not mention what she suffered, but her hair had turned white. She was thin and walked bent over.

6. [Fangzheng County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Tian Chengxiang Detained

Ms. Tian Chengxiang was arrested at home on the morning of July 22, 2022, by officer Xue Yifei from the Daluomi Town Police Station and Baoqing Township. They ordered her to sign papers and ransacked her home. They seized a picture of Falun Gong's founder, an incense burner, Falun Gong books, and other items. She was taken to the Fangzheng County Police Department where they wrote a police report, took her fingerprints, photographed her, took her blood sample, and had her undergo a physical exam. They then took her to Harbin City where she was detained for 15 days.

7. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Weixin and Ms. Pu Zexiu Arrested

Ms. Chen Weixin, 78, and Ms. Pu Zexiu, 83, were arrested by plainclothes officers around 9:00 a.m. on January 12, 2023, when they were talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong near the Nanxiaoqu neighborhood. They were taken to the Kaixuanlu Police Station. The officers seized the keys to their homes, ransacked their homes, and confiscated several media players and other items. They were interrogated separately and released at 7:00 p.m.
