(Minghui.org) A 49-year-old woman in Leshan City, Sichuan Province was arrested on October 24, 2021 and subsequently given four years in prison around April 2022 for her faith in Falun Dafa, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted in China since July 1999. Ms. Zhu Mingrong’s family was not informed of her trial, nor did they receive a copy of the judgment against her.
According to the police, she was transferred to Longquanyi Women’s Prison in Chengdu City, also known as Chengdu Women’s Prison, in November 2022.
The guards in the prison instigated other prisoners to torture jailed Falun Gong practitioners, promising to give them term reductions. Liu Wenzhen, a drug dealer serving a life sentence, and several others actively participated in torturing Ms. Zhu. When she shouted “Falun Dafa is good,” the inmates shoved a sanitary pad into her mouth. In winter times, she had only two thin shirts and two pairs of pants and no socks.
The prisoners would do anything to torture Ms. Zhu and other steadfast practitioners to get reduced sentences. They forced the practitioners to stand still with legs touching each other, to sit still on small stools, to stand in military position, or to squat for hours. They’d make the practitioners squat from 6:20 a.m. as soon as they woke up, until they went to bed late at night. The practitioners were only allowed to use the toilet twice a day. Sometimes the inmates tried to force the practitioners to urinate on Falun Dafa photos. When the practitioners had their period, they were not allowed to change their sanitary pads.

Past Persecution
After the persecution of Falun Dafa started in July 1999, Ms. Zhu went to the provincial government in Chengdu City to speak up for Falun Dafa. The police arrested her and detained her for 15 days.
She went to the central government in Beijing in October that year to protest the persecution, and was detained for a month. She was given three years in prison the same year.
Her third arrest took place in 2003, and she was subsequently sentenced to six years. In 2010, she was arrested for the fourth time and sentenced to six years.
The officers from Boshui Street Police Station and a local official named Li Bingming went to her rental apartment every day for four days in May 2021 to harass her. On July 11 that year, Li and several officials went to her home and confiscated all of her Falun Dafa books and literatures. Months later on October 24, the police arrested her for telling a student about Falun Dafa, and locked her in Mabian Detention Center.
Chengdu Women’s Prison
The Longquanyi Women’s Prison sits on Longhon Road in Hong’an Town, Longquanyi District, Chengdu City. The torture methods the guards used on the practitioners in order to force them to renounce their faith include: shocking with electric batons, hanging up from the handcuffs, exposure to extremely cold or hot weather, standing or sitting for long hours in military positions, force-feeding, injection with nerve-damaging drugs, tying up in unnatural positions, forced blood draws, needle jabs, waterboarding, slamming on the wall, limited toilet use, solitary confinement, denied family visits, poisoning the food, and inhumane living conditions. The guards played videos that slandered Falun Dafa and its founder in an attempt to brainwash the practitioners.
At least seven practitioners died in the prison due to torture since 2013. They include Ms. Chen Shikang, Ms. Hu Xia, Ms. Yan Hongmei, Ms. Hu Yanshun (also known as Hu Tingshun), Ms. Liang Wende, Ms. Ding Guoqin, and Ms. Gao Chunxiu. Many more became disabled or lost their mental capacity after being tortured. Ms. Yan died in the prison on December 28, 2017. When her family arrived at the prison, her head was wrapped in gauze and body covered in a piece of cloth. The prison authorities cremated her body without her family’s consent.
