(Minghui.org) Practitioners held the 13th Taiwan Minghui Winter Camp at the National Yunlin University of Science and Technology in Yunlin from February 3-5, 2023. Eighty students, ranging from 4-12 years old, and thirty parents participated in the winter camp.

In addition to daily Fa study and doing the Falun Dafa exercises, classes such as Chinese classical dance, breakout games and drama appreciation were taught. The theme of the winter camp was “Making Choices.” Through stories and drama appreciation, children learned how the choices one makes can change the outcome. Children were also reminded to make choices that aligned with Falun Dafa’s principles, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Something Jiang Xinrong witnessed touched her. She said, “I saw two sixth graders getting into an argument one day. One of them, Ming, wanted to make up for his mistakes and reconcile. However, the other one Xuanxuan, refused. Then Ming said he found his own shortcomings and was willing to change for the better. Ming said he was willing to change if he made Xuanxuan upset.”
Jiang Xinrong said, “It is evident that the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance have impacted the lives of these young practitioners.”

Choices Made By Children
Yuchen, a parent, said, “My child used to take a long time washing his hands prior to doing his homework or reading the Fa. However, after attending the camp, I saw a big difference in his behavior. My son no longer takes a long time to accomplish these tasks when I played the song, 'Spreading Falun Dafa Is Good All Around The World.'”

Yuchen said that her four year old daughter, Rourou, was upset when she was told to fill her cup with water. Rourou just stood in place and refused to move. A young practitioner next to Rourou said, “Go find your mom!” However, another young practitioner said, “Let her choose.” Two other young practitioners added, “Yes, we are all making choices today.”
The conversations between these young practitioners touched Yuchen. She said, “I was very touched upon seeing these interactions. Adult practitioners at the winter camp really tried their best to guide these young practitioners with Falun Dafa’s principles.”
Xinya, a parent from Changhua city, said, “The drama ‘Good and Evil’ performed by the teenage practitioners helped younger practitioners distinguish their own thoughts and notions. It helped them to make the correct choices in life.”
The children were supposed to accomplish certain tasks after school. However, when they decided to play with toys instead, Xinya reminded them to do the right thing. Afterwards Xinya asked, “Were you being tricked by bad thoughts? You made the right choice by listening to the little angel, right?” The children replied, “Oh, yes! It was good that we did not get tricked.”
Xinya continued, “Do you think that the angel is dancing now that you’ve made the right choice?” (a scene from the drama “Good and Evil”) The children nodded in unison.
Choices Made By Parents
Yuchen said, “I found many of my own shortcomings by participating in this camp. I made my choice when I forced my child to do certain things. Instead, I should give them more encouragement or be patient and have them make the right choice.”
She reflected, “It is already hard enough for the adults to make the right choice, let alone putting it on these young children. We need to have more patience and tolerance for them.”
Xinrong, organizer of the Minghui winter camp, said that in the process of planning and coordinating the winter camp, she also learned to make choices. She made choices by letting everyone in the team use their greatest strengths and everyone came up with a best plan, “Only by working together will this camp be successful,” she said.
Before the Taiwan Winter Camp ended, everyone sang “Spreading Falun Dafa Is Good All Around The World.” They all agreed it was a perfect way to end their experience. Everyone said they benefited from attending the camp. They said in unison, “Let’s come back together for the summer camp!”
