(Minghui.org) A textile factory owner in Baoding City, Hebei Province has been detained since his arrest in October 2022 for practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Feng Zhiyong’s family is calling on the international community to pay attention to his case.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Feng was working in his office when several police officers and government officials broke in. They accused him of browsing the Minghui website and took him to the village government after the local detention center refused to admit him due to the pandemic.
According to his family, who has been denied visitation, Mr. Feng was still being held at the village government as of January 2023. But they couldn’t confirm his current whereabouts.
Prior to his latest ordeal, Mr. Feng was arrested another time on August 3, 2016, when he was distributing Falun Gong materials. Bian Likun, the director of the Gaoyang City Domestic Security Office, ransacked his home without a search warrant. He was beaten for doing Falun Gong exercises while being held at the Gaoyang Detention Center.
In exchange for Mr. Feng’s release (so he could run his factory), his wife spent over 100,000 yuan to bribe the local authorities. They released him after sentencing him to 1.5 years with 2 years probation on April 5, 2017.
