Additional Persecution News from China – January 22, 2023 (7 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 18 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Zheng Jiang Sentenced to Two Years in Prison

Zheng Jiang (gender unknown) from Ulanqab City, Inner Mongolia, was arrested by officers from the Fuwai Police Station in Beijing and Zheng’s home was ransacked on April 29, 2019. Someone reported Zheng Jiang to the police for distributing truth-clarifying materials, including Minghui Weekly.

Zheng was later prosecuted by Tang Weijia from the Xicheng District Procuratorate, and was sentenced to two years in prison by judge Yu Xiaomin of the Xicheng District Court. Zheng was held in the Xicheng District Detention Center.

On May 12, 2017, Zheng was arrested and detained for one month for writing “Falun Dafa is good” under the Siyuan Bridge in Beijing.

2. [Beijing] Mr. Sun Deli Faces Trial

Mr. Sun Deli from Shunyi District was reported to the police when he clarified the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution in the second half of 2021. He was scheduled to be tried on January 30, 2023.

3. [Urumqi City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region] Ms. Li Xiaoping’s Home Ransacked

From 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on January 7, 2023, Peng Qing, Party secretary of Zhonghe Community in Midong District, Gao Tianshun, director of the community, and Xu Xiaolei, a community police officer, unlocked the door and entered the home of Ms. Li Xiaoping. She was not there. Afterwards, they entered her home again by breaking the lock on the door.

4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wang Xiaoshun’s Pension Deducted

In December 2022, Mr. Wang Xiaoshun’s pension was deducted by over 400 yuan. In January 2023, over 2,000 yuan was deducted.

Mr. Wang went to Machi Community and located Liu Tao, who handled the pension payments. He told Liu that he needed the pension money to cover his living expenses after retirement, and it was the authority’s fault that he was sent to a forced labor camp for three years. Liu replied that if Mr. Wang had a complaint he should bring his case to the court.

5. [Shanghai] List of Practitioners Held in Shanghai and Other Provinces

Practitioners held in Shanghai’s Tilanqiao Prison:Mr. Tian Hui, sentenced to three years in prison, until February 4, 2023.Li Xintian, 56, arrested on April 23, 2021 and sentenced to two years and six months in prison, until October 22, 2023.Mr. Zhang Qin, sentenced to five years in prison, from April 24, 2019 to April 23, 2024.

Practitioners held in Shanghai City Women’s Prison:Ms. Yao Guizhen, sentenced to four years and three months in prison, until July 24, 2023.Ms. Yang Manye, sentenced to two years in prison, until February 24, 2023.Ms. He Pinqin, sentenced to three years and six months in prison, until February 26, 2024.

Practitioner held in Jing’an District Detention Center:Ms. Li Hong, arrested on September 9, 2022. The case was turned over to the Putuo District Procuratorate.

Practitioners held in the Changning District Detention Center:Mr. He Binggang and Ms. Zhang Yibo, arrested on October 4, 2021. Their cases were brought to the Fengxian District Court.

Practitioners in the Jiading District Detention Center:Ms. Chen Qinfang, arrested on December 23, 2021.Ms. Dai Zhiying from Luoyang City, Henan Province, sentenced to nine years and six months in prison, until October 11, 2030.

Practitioner held in the Lishui City Detention Center in Zhejiang Province:Mr. Xu Yongqing, sentenced to four years in prison. The term will end in October 2025.

Practitioner held in the Lanzhou City No. 1 Detention Center in Gansu Province:Yang Hui, arrested in June 2022. The case was brought to the Lanzhou Railway Transport Court.

6. [Cangxi County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Deng Shaoqun’s Home Ransacked

At around 9 a.m. on December 8, 2022, three officers from the Jiangnan Police Station, three women from the Shaoping Community in Lingjiang Town, and a member of the Justice Department broke into Ms. Deng Shaoqun’s home.

After breaking into her home, the lead officer directly questioned Ms. Deng as to whether she placed Falun Gong books in an unused room on a building’s top floor in the Beimengou area before she went to prison or after she was released from prison. On the morning of September 9, 2022, the police confiscated the Falun Gong books and photos of the founder of Falun Gong that were in the room.

Three officers then searched Ms. Deng’s bedroom, but did not find anything they were looking for.

7. [Jieyang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Huang Huijun Held in Detention Center

Ms. Huang Huijun from Dongshan Community, Rongcheng District, was arrested by officers from the Dongxing Police Station around 10 a.m. on January 18, 2023 for posting truth-clarification materials.

That evening, the officers took her to her home, ransacked the place, and confiscated her Falun Gong books. Around 1 p.m. the following day, Ms. Huang was taken to the Jieyang City Detention Center.
