Additional Persecution News from China – February 4, 2023 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 12 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shifang City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Jirong Arrested

Ms. Wang Jirong of Yinfeng Village, Majing Town was arrested in Yunxi Town on the morning of February 2, 2023. She talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and was stalked by several plainclothes officers.

2. [Shanghai] Mr. Xu Yongqing’s Appeal Rejected

Mr. Xu Yongqing, a senior engineer in Shanghai, was arrested in the Longquan Railway Station in Zhejiang Province on October 20, 2021. He was held in the Longquan Detention Center. The Liandu District Court in Lishui City, Zhejiang Province sentenced him to four years in prison on November 2, 2022. He appealed. The Lishui City Intermediate Court affirmed the sentence on December 21, 2022.

3. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Zhongmin Detained

Mr. Liu Zhongmin of Chang’an Township, Bin County was arrested in the Harbin Railroad Station on January 31, 2023, when he was on his way to Beijing for work. The railroad police notified the Bin County Police Department. He was taken back to Bin County. Four officers from the Bin County Police Department ransacked his home after 7:00 p.m. that day. They seized his Falun Gong books and copies of Minghui Weekly. He is being held in the Bin County No. 1 Detention Center.

4. [Beijing] Ms. Gu Xiuying Sentenced to Two Years for Distributing Calendars

Ms. Gu Xiuying, 88, of the Xicheng District, was arrested for distributing Falun Gong desk calendars. She was sentenced to two years in prison to be executed outside of prison.

5. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liang Shuzhi Faces Trial

Ms. Liang Shuzhi, 85, will be tried in the Liaozhong Court at 9:00 a.m. on February 8, 2023. Only two family members will be allowed to attend the trial. An officer from the Heping Police Department called her lawyer and her family on February 3 and notified them of the trial.

6. [Xianghe County, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Xian and Mr. Wang Zhishan Face Indictment

Mr. Zhang Xian and Mr. Wang Zhishan were arrested on September 28, 2022. Officers from the Domestic Security Division stalked them for three months. Mr. Wang’s parents and Mr. Zhang’s father-in-law passed away while they were in police custody.

They were released on bail pending trial in January 2023. Their cases were sent to the procuratorate.

7. [Anlu City, Hubei Province] Ms. Fan Jinhe Detained

Ms. Fan Jinhe was arrested on January 26, 2023, while she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is being held in the Anlu Detention Center.

8. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Pintong in Police Custody

Ms. Liu Pintong was arrested on the morning of February 3, 2023, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong near Oubocheng in Liuhe Street. She is being held in an unknown police station.

9. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Guo Xiuying and Ms. Liu Lianrong Detained

Ms. Guo Xiuying and Ms. Liu Lianrong, both in their 60s, were arrested by officers from the Jiahe Police Station on the morning of February 2, 2023, when they were talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Chengbeijiequ. They are being held in the Yongxing Detention Center for 10 days.

10. [Taizhou City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Tian Hui Released After Three Years in Prison

Mr. Tian Hui of Xinghua City was sentenced to three years in prison in Shanghai. He was released on February 3, 2023, after he was imprisoned for three years in the Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai.
