(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Yanhong’s family was notified on January 30, 2023, that she was admitted to Shandong Province Women’s Prison on January 13 to serve a three-year term for refusing to give up her faith in Falun Gong. The authorities denied her family’s requests to visit her, claiming that they hadn’t finished processing her paperwork.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been targeted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Chen, 48, from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, was arrested on November 29, 2021. The police claimed that she was reported for distributing Falun Gong materials. After a round of interrogation, the police took her to the Pudong No.2 Detention Center in Jimo City. Her family hasn’t been allowed to see her since.

The police submitted Ms. Chen’s case to the Chengyang District Procuratorate on January 28, 2022. She was tried in the Chengyang District Court on July 20, 2022, and later sentenced to three years in prison.

Ms. Chen’s daughter married a Korean man and currently lives in South Korea. Her husband and his parents are also very worried about Ms. Chen.
