(Minghui.org) A Luzhou City, Sichuan Province resident was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 8,000 yuan on October 27, 2022 for her faith in Falun Gong. This is the third time that Ms. Zhang Lihui has been sentenced since the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.
Ms. Zhang, 54, was arrested on November 7, 2021 while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong, and held at the Luzhou City Detention Center. The Lu County Procuratorate indicted her on February 9, 2022, accusing her of being a repeat offender.
Ms. Zhang appeared in Lu County Court on July 13, 2022. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her and demanded her acquittal. The judge announced her conviction three months later.
Ms. Zhang has suffered with many ailments since she was in her late twenties, including Hepatitis B, chronic bronchitis, and a kidney disease. She tried various treatments, but none had much effect on her. All of her illnesses disappeared shortly after she took up Falun Gong in June 2006. Having regained health through Falun Gong, she felt compelled to debunk the regime’s slanderous propaganda against the practice by sharing her story with people.
Because of her courageous efforts, she was arrested and sentenced to three and four years in prison in 2009 and 2017, before receiving the latest prison term.
