Additional Persecution News from China – December 27, 2022 (10 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 31 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Gejiu City, Yunnan] Ms. Li Yanzhu and Ms. Shen Shaoqing Sentenced to Prison

Several practitioners were arrested before the 20^th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party and some were sentenced to long terms. Ms. Li Yanzhu was sentenced to seven years. Ms. Shen Shaoqing was also sentenced to seven years.

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Niu Xiaona Faces Trial

The Railroad Transportation Intermediate’s Court has scheduled a trial against Ms. Niu Xiaona at 9 a.m. on December 29, 2022.

3. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Cuilan’s Home Ransacked

Twelve officers led by Ji Wanguang, head of Huai’an County Domestic Security Division, went to Ms. Liu Guilan’s home around 10 a.m. on December 2, 2022. They ransacked it and confiscated two computers, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, her Falun Gong books, four media players, an MP3 player, desk calendars, posters, truth-clarifying materials, cash, etc. Ms. Liu was held by two officers during the process. She was slapped twice and her ears were boxed twice by Ji Wanguang when she tried to reason with the police.

4. [Shangzhi City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Cui Xiangui Arrested

Two officers from the No.2 Police Station went to elderly Ms. Cui Xiangui’s home in August 2022. They searched her home and confiscated two MP3 players, a Falun Gong book, and a calendar. Two officers from the police station in Changshou Township where Ms. Cui is originally from came and took her to the township police station for interrogation. Her hand was forcefully held and she was made to press her fingerprints on some documents.

5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wen Caizhao Arrested

Ms. Wen Caizhao, 60, lives in Baixing Village, Mengyang Town, Pengzhou City. Over 30 police officers and town government members went to her home on the morning of August 4, 2022. They ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, computer, printer, and other personal properties. Ms. Wen was taken to the town police station for interrogation. She was released the following evening.

6. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Gao Sulan Released After Two and a Half Years in Prison

Ms. Gao Sulan was released at the end of February 2022 after being imprisoned for two and a half years.

7. [Meishan City, Sichuan Province] Ms. He Qi Persecuted

Ms. He Qi from the Dongpo District was arrested on August 1, 2017, because she talked to people about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to three years and three months and was incarcerated in the No.4 Ward, Chengdu Women’s Prison. She was released on October 30, 2020.

Ms. He was arrested again on April 1, 2021, for telling people about Falun Gong. She was held for eighteen months in the Meishan City Detention Center and was released on September 30, 2022.

8. [Tai’an City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Xiuping Released After Four Years in Prison

Ms. Wang Xiuping was arrested on December 26, 2018. She was sentenced to four years in prison and incarcerated in the Shandong Province Women’s Prison. She was released on December 25, 2022.

9. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] 16 Practitioners Arrested in One Day

Sixteen or more practitioners were arrested in Hegang City on September 29, 2022, during a group arrest. Many of them were tracked and followed by police for a while before they were arrested.

Mr. Liu Qingfu teaches at the No. 21 Middle School. He was followed by police for a while before he was arrested on September 29, 2022. He was held in the Luobei County Detention Center for over a month.

Ms. Du Guihua was arrested by officers from the Gounan Police Station and the Xingshan District Police Department on the afternoon of September 29, 2022. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and photo of Falun Gong’s founder. She was detained for nine days and then placed under one-year residential surveillance. Ms. Du was followed and harassed by police before her arrest.

Ms. Xin Haiyan from the Dongshan District was arrested on the street by officers in the Dongshan District at 8 or 9 a.m. on September 29, 2022. When she had symptoms of being critically ill at the police station, her family took her home. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. She was followed by police before she was arrested.

Ms. Zhang Yingchun was arrested at home by officers from the Jiefang Road Police Station in the Gongnong District. The police searched her home and confiscated two Falun Gong books. She was released later that day.

Ms. Peng Shuxia was arrested by officers from the Jiefang Road Police Station on the same day. The police confiscated numerous Falun Gong books, media players, DVDs, etc. from her home. She was placed under 10-day custody. Because she was denied admission by the detention house, she was released the next day.

Ms. Zhang Huanshun and Ms. Liu Fengqin were arrested by officers from the No. 6 Police Station in the Nanshan District on September 29, 2022. They were released that evening. The police confiscated two Falun Gong books from Ms. Zhang’s home.

Nine more practitioners were arrested on September 29, 2022. They are Mr. Zhang Aicheng, Mr. Qiu, Ms. Xu, Ma, Ms. Huang, Ms. Zhang Yan, Ms. Meng Guangzhi, and her daughter Ms. Gao. They were released later that day or a few days later. The police confiscated multiple Falun Gong books from Ms. Zhang Yan’s home, and some Falun Gong books and a cell phone from Ms. Huang’s home.

Ms. Hu was followed by police to her home. The police ransacked it and confiscated her Falun Gong books.

Ms. Liu Hui was harassed at home by officer Wang Zhaokui from the Hongjun Police Station in the Xiangyang District on September 1, 2022. She was taken to the police station and was placed under 15-day administration detention. She was allowed to go home later that day.

Ms. Chu Furong from Dongshan District was arrested twice before the 20^th National Congress of the CCP. She was arrested on the street the first time but was released later that day. She was arrested at home the second time but was released later that day.

9. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Guifang Under Surveillance

Practitioners on probation in the Shangta District are closely monitored by the Shuangta District Judicial Office and its branches. The practitioners must carry an assigned cell phone at all times. They are not allowed to leave the city and must report their whereabouts monthly. They are called randomly to check whether they are at home. They must go to the judicial office once a month to write a report. The cell phones were updated at the end of 2021 with more personal information. The practitioners are required to upload one or two photos every day.

Ms. Zhang Guifang is one of the practitioners who is currently monitored by the Longshan Judicial Office, a branch of the Shuangta District Judicial Office. This has put great pressure on Ms. Zhang Guifang and her family.
