(Minghui.org) Two Falun Gong practitioners serving time at the Shandong Province Women’s Prison are being held in solitary confinement and not allowed to wash themselves, for refusing to renounce their faith.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

As the authorities have also denied Ms. Liu Hongzhao and Ms. Hu Jinhui family visits, it’s not clear whether the two women are suffering even more severe torture in this notorious prison on the front line of the persecution.

Ms. Liu is a 36-year-old Linyi City resident. Due to the communist regime’s censorship, information about her collected by Minghui.org is very limited. It’s only known that her father was also sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong in 2009, when she was 23. When both she and her younger sister went to visit their father in the prison, they noted that his hair had turned gray and his teeth had fallen out.

Ms. Hu, 55 and also of Linyi City, was arrested in 2018 and is serving a nine-year term.

Ms. Hu is the fifth child. She developed some diseases during postpartum recovery, which further caused other problems in her. In 2008, seeing that she was tormented by her symptoms, one of her sisters recommended that she try Falun Gong. Ms. Hu soon recovered. She had a glowing complexion and looked much younger.

Since then, Ms. Hu has spent much of her free time sharing her story and raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong. Her efforts caught the attention of the police, who then added her to the blacklist and started to harass her.

On September 29, 2018, the Linyi City Domestic Security Office dispatched officers from four local police stations and arrested Ms. Hu at her home. Her sister, Ms. Hu Jinping, as well as two other practitioners, Mr. Gong Maohai and Ms. Qian Jinhua, who happened to be visiting her, were also arrested. The police kept the four practitioners at the Hedong District Detention Center and frequently interrogated them.

The Lanshan District Court held a hearing of Ms. Hu at the detention center on May 17, 2019 and sentenced her to nine years. She was taken to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison in August and has been denied family visitation since.
