Additional Persecution News from China – August 10, 2022 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Fei County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Lianmei and Mr. Guo Qingtian Arrested

Ms. Zhang Lianmei of Guozhuang Village, Shangye Town distributed Falun Gong flyers in a county town on August 3, 2022. Officers from the Fei County Police Department and the Shangye Town Police Station identified her from the police video surveillance system and arrested her and her husband Mr. Guo Qingtian on August 5. Their home was ransacked.

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Mei Guangqin, Ms. Mei Guangli, and Mr. Hou Guofan were arrested in a flea market at the end of June 2022 by officers from the Lidong Town Police Station, led by director Deng Lijun. The officers held them for two days and one night in the Mulan County Police Department interrogated them and collected their fingerprints and voice samples.

Mr. Hou, 74, was released after his son signed a document. A week later, an officer called his son and ordered him to sign a release on bail pending trial document. Both practitioners left home to avoid further persecution.

3. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Wenwen Faces Indictment

Ms. Sun Wenwen was arrested by officers from the Longfeng Police Station on May 17, 2022, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Cigou flea market in the Dongzhou District. The officers ransacked her home and seized her Falun Gong books. She was released the following day at midnight.

She has since been repeatedly harassed by police and was ordered to be present on August 8 when the indictment against her was filed.

4. [Taicang City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Shen Yinglan Dies as a Result of Persecution

Ms. Shen Yinglan, 70, died as a result of being persecuted. She had a swollen abdomen and was unconscious when she was taken to a local township hospital days before she passed away.

5. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Tu Yonghong Harassed

Ms. Tu Yonghong of the Shijianian Community was taken to a local brainwashing center by officers from the Dawan Police Station and community clerks at noon on August 5, 2022. They tried to force her to sign a document renouncing Falun Gong and threatened to send her to a police station if she refused. They went to her home at 8 p.m., seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder and desk calendars with Falun Gong messages printed on them, and took her non-practitioner husband who was sick, to a brainwashing center. Her husband wept and scolded her. He fainted after they told him they would destroy their son’s future. They didn’t stop harassing the couple until after midnight.

6. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Tianying and Xi Tongping Harassed

Ms. Li Tianying and Xi Tongping (gender unknown) of Wenjia Village, Longfeng Town were stopped by village committee clerks when they just stepped out the door to go grocery shopping on August 3, 2022. They were told people from Chengdu City would meet them.

A big group of people went to Xi’s home, including people from Chengdu and Pengzhou cities, agents from a brainwashing center, doctors who took their blood pressure, and police station officers. They ransacked the place and seized three Falun Gong books, a desk calendar, a radio, and an MP3. They photographed inside and outside the home.

7. [Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region] Mr. Wang Xiangchen Detained

Mr. Wang Xiangchen, 69, of the Jinfeng District, talked to a woman about the persecution of Falun Gong on August 2, 2022. The woman was a police officer. He was arrested. Police ransacked his home and confiscated his computer. He was detained for 13 days in the Changchengzhonglu Police Station.

He was arrested and detained many times and was imprisoned and sent to a forced labor camp for two years. His wife Ms. Luo Xinping was held in a forced labor camp for one year in June 2006 for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was arrested again in February 2013 and sentenced to four years in prison. Her pension was stopped while she was incarcerated. In August 2022, she was arrested again and sentenced to four years in prison. She is being held in the Ningxia Women’s Prison.

8. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. You Quanfu and Ms. Yang Qihui Harassed

Mr. You Quanfu and his wife, Ms. Yang Qihui live in a compound. After 2:00 p.m. on August 7, 2022, about ten agents from the Chengdu City Political and Legal Affairs Committee pretended to collect signatures for pandemic prevention and had the couple’s neighbor open the gate. The agents ordered Mr. You and Ms. Yang to sign a document renouncing Falun Gong. When they refused, the agents rushed up, held them, grabbed their hands, and pressed their fingerprints on the document.

9. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Mr. Ma Fumin was harassed at home by officers from the Jiuzhai Township Police Station. The officers seized his Falun Gong books and a mini audio system. They took Mr. Ma and his wife to the police station for questioning and had them sign and fingerprint the police records. They threatened to fine them before they released them.

The officers ransacked Ms. Pi Xiurong’s home and intended to arrest her. She had to stay away from home to avoid persecution.

10. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Wang Jian Detained

Wang Jian of Bin County was arrested by officers from the Shenglijie Police Station on July 11, 2022. The arrest warrant was issued on July 20. Wang was given criminal detention and is being held in the Harbin City No.2 Detention Center.

11. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Jingyi Arrested

Ms. Li Jingyi was arrested by officers from the Zhongshan Police Department and the Guilinjie Police Station on August 3, 2022. She was released that night.

12. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liang Shuzhi Faces Trial

Ms. Liang Shuzhi of the Heping District put Falun Gong flyers on car windshields in March 2021 and was recorded by the surveillance video system. She was arrested at home in early May 2021 by officers from the Heping District Domestic Security Division and the Maluwan Police Station. She was released on bail that night after her family signed the document.

The Liaozhong District Procuratorate filed a charge against her to the Liaozhong District Court on June 17, 2022.

On August 2, 2022, officers from the Heping District Domestic Security Division and the Maluwan Police Station, prosecutors from the Liaozhong District Procuratorate, and community officers went to her home and ordered her to sign the indictment. She refused.

13. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhang Zihan and Wife Released

Mr. Zhang Zihan, 79, was arrested with his wife at their home by officers from the Dongguang Police Department on July 12, 2022. The officers broke into their home at 6:00 a.m., ransacked the place, and took them to the police station. They were released around 6:00 p.m.

14. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Guofeng Harassed

Ms. Gao Guofeng received a harassing call on July 30, 2022. Wang Yan from the Wenmingjie No. 2 Residence Committee demanded she renounce Falun Gong and threatened to stop her pension if she did not comply.

15. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Wang Kezhen Released on Bail Pending Trial

Ms. Wang Kezhen was arrested in Ms. Zhang Ping’s home by officers from the Sanli Street Police Station on the evening of August 3, 2022. She was there taking care of Ms. Zhang who fell and was injured. When she opened the door to go home, four officers rushed in, ransacked the place, and took her to the police station. She was released on bail the next day.
