(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 11 provinces, where at least 39 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Li Xuesong and Wang Hua Face Trial
Ms. Li Xuesong from the Weiyang District and Wang Hua (gender unknown) from the Huyi District were notified that they would be tried by the Lianhu District Court on August 12, 2022.
2. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Eight Practitioners Face Trial
Eight practitioners from Shenze County were arrested on the evening of January 10, 2022. Their cases were presented to the Jinzhou City Court on June 2. The eight practitioners are: He Hongyan, Liu Xiaomiao, Liu Yuru, Jiao Yaqin, Ma Tongxin, Liu Chengwu, Tian Xuan, and Du Guofang.
On January 11, the Shenze County Police Department placed the eight practitioners in criminal detention. On January 12, Jinzhou City Police Department placed them under residential surveillance in a designated location, where they were abused, tortured, induced to confess, and pressured to give out information. Black hoods were put over their heads for 14 days. There were no openings for their noses, mouths, or eyes.
The Jinzhou City Police Department placed the eight practitioners in criminal detention on January 25 and officially arrested them on March 3. Their cases were turned over to the Jinzhou City Procuratorate on May 5 and to the Jinzhou City Court on June 2.
The Jinzhou City Court recently told them that they would be tried at 9 a.m. on August 25.
3. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Case Against Ms. Tang Lizhen Turned Over to Procuratorate
Ms. Tang Lizhen was taken to the Yongning Police Station in the Naxi District at 9 a.m. on August 1, 2022. The officers played videos recorded by people assigned by the police station of her mailing truth-clarification letters. The officers told her to leave her phone on at all times, because the procuratorate could call her at any time and she would have to go there whenever she was told to.
Around 9 p.m. on April 27, 2022, Ms. Tang mailed truth-clarification letters at the No. 5 Highway Post Office in the Naxi District. Officers who were staked out there arrested her. They ransacked her home and confiscated Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, weekly publications, printed materials, stamps, and unmailed truth-clarification letters. Ms. Tang was placed under residential surveillance by the Naxi District Police Department.
4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Tang Xianting Arrested
Tang Xianting (gender unknown) from the Donghu New Technology Development Zone was arrested near the building where Tang lives in the Jindi Gelin Dongjun Residential Community on the afternoon of July 15, 2022. Tang’s home was ransacked. Tang’s current whereabouts are unknown.
5. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] An Jinzi Arrested
An Jinzi (gender unknown) was arrested by Zhanqian Police Station officers on the morning of August 2, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. An returned home that day.
6. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ms. Fan Wenfang Arrested
Ms. Fan Wenfang was arrested in early July 2022. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
7. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Xu Harassed
Xu (first name and gender unknown) is a teacher. Several officers from the Dongguang Police Department broke into Xu’s home in the Longfeng District and ransacked it on July 12, 2022. Xu began convulsing and collapsed on the sofa. Officer Ma Yonggang asked someone from the Community Management Office to sign paperwork on Xu’s behalf.
Because Xu’s bones were fractured and he/she was not able to easily move around, Xu was not arrested.
8. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Zhao Wenli Arrested
Mr. Zhao Wenli from Tonghe County was arrested two weeks ago. It was reported that Mr. Zhao had been followed and monitored by the police for some time. His current situation is unknown.
9. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Mr. Han Zhenlin and Mr. Zhou Chunbao Arrested
Mr. Han Zhenlin from Dongjiu County was arrested by Qingshui Township Police Station officers in Guan County on July 28, 2022. He was held in the brainwashing center run by the Guan County 610 Office.
Mr. Zhou Chunbao, deputy director of the Guanxian Tax Bureau, was held in custody. His current whereabouts are unknown.
10. [Yueyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Zheng Xiyun and Ms. Gan Zhihui Arrested
Ms. Zheng Xiyun, 59, from Xiangyin County was arrested at home by officers from the Chengguan Police Station on July 28, 2022. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to a detention center and held for 10 days.
That same day, Ms. Gan Zhihui, 57, was arrested at home by officers from the Wulong Police Station. She was taken to a detention center and held for 10 days.
11. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Wang Arrested
Ms. Wang, in her 80s, from the Xiayaowan area in the Xihu District was arrested at the Laofushan bus station around 9 a.m. on August 2, 2022. The officers seized dozens of USB flash drives and a list of people who had quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, Falun Gong books, and a large number of personal items. Late that night, Ms. Wang was picked up and taken home by her son.
12. [Beijing] 13 Practitioners Arrested
All 13 practitioners were arrested in the Daxing District between July 25 and July 27, 2022. They included Liu Xing, Liu Yuhong, and Feng Yumei; Dong Xiurong from the Qingyuan Residential Community; Ji Wenhua, Ren Sulan, Li Shuyan, Wang Xiuling, Cui Jingwen, and Wen Xixin from Caiyu Town; and Jin Shuying, Zhou Liyun, and Shen Defeng from Zhangziying Town.
Most of them were taken to a detention center, and their homes were ransacked.
13. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Yan Bo Taken to Brainwashing Center
Yan Bo (gender unknown) from Buzhuang Town, Changyi City, was arrested and taken to the Lijiabu Brainwashing Center by officers from the Changyi City Domestic Security Division and the Buzhuang Town Police Station on the afternoon of August 1, 2022.
14. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Fengzhen Arrested
Ms. Wang Fengzhen from the Dengfengjiayuan Residential Community was arrested around 5:30 a.m. on July 12, 2022. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong, a copy of Zhuan Falun, and dozens of other Falun Gong books. Ms. Wang was taken to the Development Zone Police Department.
Officer Wang pressured Ms. Wang to sign the detention certificate. She refused to. The officers told Ms. Wang’s daughter to sign it. Her daughter wrote a note on the certificate that Ms. Wang did not sign it. Ms. Wang was released at noon.
15. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Riqing’s Home Ransacked
Ms. Wang Riqing from the Jinzhou District was reported to the police by the head of the building (a resident whose last name is Xia) where she was posting Falun Gong materials on August 2, 2022. Her home was ransacked by Youyi Police Station officers. Ms. Wang is currently under residential surveillance.
16. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Li Xintian Held in Prison
Li Xintian (gender unknown), 56, from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison (starting on April 23, 2021, and ending on October 22, 2023). Li is being held in Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai.
17. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wen Qingfang Arrested
Ms. Wen Qingfang from Qian’an City was arrested and taken to the Qian’an City Police Department by officers from the Qian’an City Domestic Security Division and the local police station on the morning of August 1, 2022. She may have been transferred to the Tangshan City No. 1 Detention Center. Her family is asking where she is being held.
18. [Yulin City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Jiang Rongjian Arrested
On February 28, 2022, Ms. Jiang Rongjian from Shenze County, Hebei Province, was on a business trip to Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. On the train from Tianjin to Urumqi, the train attendant checked her national ID card and searched her belongings. Ms. Jiang was escorted to a police station in Yushu City for interrogation.
The police officers called the Yan’an Police Department’s Domestic Security Division, which sent officers to participate in the interrogation. They forced her to give her fingerprints. Ms. Jiang was released at 6 p.m. that day.
19. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cai Xuemei Harassed
Wang Jin, who is in charge of the Huayangguangdu Community in the Tianfu New District; residential officer Li Zhigang; and others went to Ms. Cai Xuemei’s home again on August 3, 2022. On the grounds that the 20th CCP National Congress was about to be held, they pressured Ms. Cai to sign a guarantee statement renouncing Falun Gong. They threatened that if she did not cooperate and sign the statement, it would affect her son’s future, she would be blacklisted, and she would not be able to travel. Ms. Cai firmly refused to sign and told them that what they were doing was illegal. She also encouraged them to stop persecuting Falun Gong.
