(Minghui.org) After being arrested in December 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong, a Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province resident in her 70s was sentenced to four years and three months in July 2022.

Since the Chinese communist regime started to persecute Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline, in July 1999, Ms. Liu Chang’e, a retired bank employee, has been given two labor camp terms totaling at least four years. Her latest arrest came only three years after she was released from serving four years in prison for passing out Falun Gong flyers.

While serving her first labor camp term between 2002 and 2005, Ms. Liu was often hung up by the wrists to a high window frame, for eight hours a day, three days in a row. The longest duration of the daily hanging torture lasted two weeks. The guards also constantly held her in solitary confinement and shocked her with electric batons.

In addition to the physical torture, Ms. Liu was also forced to do unpaid labor. Her term was extended because she didn’t finish the quota on time.

Ms. Liu was arrested again on June 8, 2009 for talking to people about Falun Gong. After a month at the Guixi City Detention Center, she was taken to the Jiangxi Province Women’s Forced Labor Camp in July to serve an unknown term. In August 2010, she had intensive pain in her back from the torture and had difficulty getting up, but the guards still forced her to work.

Ms. Liu’s next arrest was on October 10, 2014. She was sentenced to four years in Jiangxi Women’s Prison on January 29, 2015.

For the first eight months at the prison, Ms. Liu was forced to stand for long hours every day because she refused to renounce Falun Gong.

In January 2016, the guards and inmates handcuffed her arms behind her back and hung her up from her arms. They put constraint bands on her wrists and ankles, and tied them up. The inmates constantly tightened up the bands, which cut deep into her flesh. She had excruciating pain and she felt that her arms were broken. She couldn’t even move her fingers. To prevent Ms. Liu from screaming during the torture, the inmates stuffed her mouth with her socks and underwear.

After the guards put her down, she was pressured to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong. She couldn’t move her hands for more than two weeks.

According to an insider, a guard ordered an inmate to put unknown drugs into Ms. Liu’s thermos every day beginning on March 12, 2019. She didn’t discover what happened until one day when she sipped the water in the thermos and suddenly felt sharp nerve pain on the right side of her head. From then on, she never used that thermos again (without the inmate’s knowledge) and only drank tap water.
