Additional Persecution News from China – June 26, 2022 (18 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 10 provinces, where at least 87 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province] Five Practitioners Persecuted

Many practitioners were recently harassed or arrested by local police in Hegang City.

Ms. Yang from the Gongnong District was tracked for more than a month by officers from the Jiefang Road Police Station before she was arrested in the spring of 2022. Ms. Yang was released on the same day.

Ms. Hou Shuqiu was arrested and has been released.

Officer Sun Zhiyuan from the Hongqilu Police Station in the Gongnong District went to harass Mr. Xu Xianda and his wife Ms. Huang Xiaoxia at around 7 p.m. on May 10, 2022. They photographed the couple and their home.

Officers from the Shuyuan Police Station in the Dongshan District arrested Ms. Chu Furong when she was walking on the street on May 24, 2022. They then ransacked her home. Ms. Chu was detained for several hours before she was released.

According to incomplete statistics reported on the Minghui website, there were at least 55 persecution cases in Hegang City in 2021. Two practitioners passed away, two were sentenced to prison, four were arrested and detained, one was charged, 29 were harassed, four were on bail pending trial, and at least 13 were persecuted financially.

Ms. Li Shuangyan was arrested by officers from the Fuli Police Station on December 16, 2021 and detained for one day. She died the next day. She was 45 years old.

2. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yao Peishan Faces Trial

Ms. Yao Peishan, 52, will be tried by the Yuhua District Court on the morning of June 27, 2022.

3. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Yan Liwen Detained in a Brainwashing Center

Several officers including Xu Libao from the Beidawangzhuang Police Station went to the home of Yan Liwen (gender unknown) in the Xinyuan Community, Liqingdao District of Gaomi City at around 5 a.m. on June 23, 2022. The officers broke the lock and entered the home. They arrested Yan Liwen. Yan was detained for 24 hours in the Beidawangzhuang Police Station and then taken to the Xiaokanghe Brainwashing Center.

4. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Three Practitioners Tried in Court

Three practitioners, Ms. Liu Guihua, Ms. Li Xiaoyan, and Ms. Zhao Hongjuan, were tried in the Luolong District Court on the morning of June 24, 2022. Ms. Li Xiaoyan’s defense lawyer received a call from Director Guo from the Luolong District Court the day before the trial and was told not to defend Ms. Li. The three practitioners were not allowed to defend themselves. The hearing lasted from 9 a.m. until the afternoon. The verdict was not announced during the court session.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Case Against Mr. Liu Jingguang Submitted to the Court

Officers from the Dong’antun Police Station in the Nanguan District went to Mr. Liu Jingguang’s home in early December 2021. Mr. Liu was accused of visiting websites banned by the CCP. The police ransacked his home and found his Falun Gong materials. Mr. Liu was arrested and detained in the Weizigou Detention House. He was transferred to the No. 3 Detention Center in late December 2021 and was placed under official arrest in late January 2022. The case against him was submitted to the Chaoyang District Court in early June 2022.

6. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Seven Practitioners Arrested

Many practitioners were arrested on June 18 and 19, 2022 in Fuzhou City. Ms. Huang Bixian, Ms. Huang’s older sister, Ms. Weng Meichai, who is Ms. Huang’s cousin, and Ms. Chen Xue, who is a teacher in the Fuzhou Institute of Engineering, were arrested on the evening of June 18, 2022. Their homes were ransacked. Three other practitioners including Zhong Yingjian were also arrested. Their homes were ransacked as well.

Ms. Huang’s sister was released. Ms. Chen Xue, Ms. Huang Bixian, and Ms. Weng Meichai, are currently detained in the No. 2 Detention Center.

7. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Li Shihai Arrested and Detained

Mr. Li Shihai lives in Lijiaqudi Village, Renzhao Town, Pingdu City. Several officers arrested him on June 14, 2022. He is currently detained in the Luoyang Detention Center.

8. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Ren Xiuhong Detained in a Brainwashing Center

Ms. Ren Xiuhong lives in Lijiazhuang Village, Taoxu Town. Several people including Director Song from the Mengyin County 610 Office went to Ms. Ren’s home. They confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, her cell phone, ID card, Falun Gong books, desk calendar, etc. Ms. Ren was detained in the brainwashing center managed by the Mengyin County Comprehensive Management Office. The village officials and her family members were told to assist in her “re-education.”

9. [Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Luo Xianyu and Mr. Zhao Lingan Arrested

Ms. Luo Xianyu, 73, and her husband Mr. Zhao Lingan, in his 80s, came from Sichuan Province to Hangzhou City to help their daughter take care of their grandchildren. They were arrested by officers from the Gaoxin Police Station in Binjiang District in the summer of 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing truth-clarifying materials in a supermarket. Their current situation is unknown.

10. [Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province] Xia Dong Harassed

Xia Dong (gender unknown) from Keqiao District was harassed at home by police on May 13, 2022. The police warned Xia not to distribute truth-clarifying materials or browse banned websites.

Five police officers and the director from the Maan Sub-district came to Xia Dong’s home on May 17, 2022. They pressured Xia to sign a three statements document but Xia refused. They took Xia to the police station. After Xia’s mother was pressured to bring Xia’s PC to them, they released Xia.

Xia Dong was harassed again on June 21, 2022. Three persons from the Keqiao District 610 Office, the district police department, and the local sub-district came to pressure Xia Dong to sign the three statements. They said that if Xia did not sign before the deadline of June 30, 2022, they would take Xia Dong and Xia’s mother to a brainwashing center.

11. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liang Shuxin Arrested

Mr. Liang Shuxin lives in Liangjia Village, Nanliu Town, Fangzi District. Four officers from the Nanliu Town Police Station went to his home on June 25, 2022. They ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, etc. Mr. Liang was arrested.

12. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Three family members, Mr. Leng Jiazhi, Ms. Zhou Xiuju, and Ms. Leng Jiao, were arrested by officers from the Yaogezhuang Police Station on June 23, 2022. Mr. Sui Bin was also arrested.

13. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Yuqiong Harassed

Ms. Li Yuqiong from Lanjiang Town had been harassed constantly by local police and was pressured to sign the three statements, which she refused. She had to leave home after learning that her home was under surveillance. Her husband and son kept receiving the harassing calls.

14. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhai Yanan Arrested

Ms. Zhai Yanan was arrested at home by officers from the Feixi Police Station on June 21, 2022. It was learned that she had been tracked by police since December 2021. Her case has been submitted to the Shushan Procuratorate.

15. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested

Li Ya (gender unknown) was arrested at home around 2 p.m. on June 20, 2022. The police ransacked Li’s home and confiscated the Falun Gong books and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder.

Ms. Wang Jingrong was arrested between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on June 20, 2022, and her home was ransacked. The police confiscated her computer, printer, and Falun Gong books.

Ms. Deng Limin was arrested at 3 p.m. on June 20, 2022, and her home was ransacked. Her computer, printer, printing paper, Falun Gong books and e-bike were confiscated.

The three practitioners were detained and quarantined in the Shangkeyou Hotel.

16. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Sun Zongxu Harassed

Police went to Mr. Sun Zongxu’s home in Nansun Township and confiscated his photo of Falun Gong’s founder on May 10, 2022.

17. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Wang Hongli Arrested

Three officers including Sun Hengfei from the Ningjiang District Police Department arrested Wang Hongli (gender unknown) at around 6 a.m. on June 21, 2022. Wang’s home was ransacked. The police confiscated one Falun Gong book, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, a laptop computer, and a cell phone. Wang was released in the evening.

18. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Sun Wenzhong Faces Trial

Mr. Sun Wenzhong was arrested at home by officers including Wei Fang from Lindian County on January 8, 2022. He was arrested and detained. The case against him was submitted to the Ranghulu District Court on April 29, 2022.

Mr. Sun was tried online by the Ranghulu District on the afternoon of June 10, 2022. However, because Mr. Sun’s defense lawyer and his family were not notified about the trial, it was invalid. A new hearing was scheduled for the morning of June 30, 2022. Prosecutor Wang Xin intended to extend the jail sentence of three and a half years to four and a half years.
