(Minghui.org) Ms. Yan Ying and her husband were both arrested at their home in Lingwu City, Ningxia Province on June 7, 2022. While her husband was released the next day, Ms. Yan has been held at the Yanchi County Detention Center since.
An insider revealed to Ms. Yan’s husband that her arrest was triggered by the criminal complaint she filed against the authorities for sentencing her in 2021 for practicing Falun Gong, which has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yan’s latest arrest stemmed from an earlier arrest on February 21, 2021. The 59-year-old woman was sentenced to two years with a 5,000-yuan fine on September 14, 2021 by the Litong District Court.
She developed breast, liver cysts, and gallstones while in custody. She received mastectomy in November 2021 and was released on medical parole in May 2022. It’s not clear whether the authorities would revoke her medical parole and order her to finish serving the wrongful term.
Ms. Yan took up Falun Gong in May 1997 and she credits the practice for curing her many conditions, including rheumatic heart disease, gastritis, and trigeminal neuralgia.
Prior to her latest prison term, she was given three years of forced labor in September 2001 and faced constant harassment over the years.
