(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 33 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Wutai County, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Suhua Held in Detention Center

Ms. Zhang Suhua, 66, from Huaiyin Village, was arrested while distributing Falun Gong materials on April 9, 2022. She was taken to a brainwashing center on June 18. Fifteen days later, she was taken to the Wutai County Detention Center. She has been denied family visits.

On April 9, Ms. Zhang and two other practitioners were reported to the police while they distributed Falun Gong materials in a neighboring village. The three practitioners were arrested by the SWAT Team of Wutai County Police Department. Afterward, the officers ransacked Ms. Zhang’s home and confiscated one and a half large bags of truth clarification materials.

Two days later, one practitioner’s family member signed a bail release form and guarantee statement and all three practitioners were released.

On June 18, the three practitioners were taken to a brainwashing center for 15 days. Their families were told that after 15 days, the practitioners would be able to go home. On the last day of the 15-day period, the officers pressured Ms. Zhang to tell them where she got the materials and information about the practitioners who gave them to her.

Ms. Zhang is now being held in the Wutai County Detention Center. Her family members are not allowed to visit her. One of the other two practitioners has returned home. The details about the other one are not known.

2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yang Yunjie Arrested Again

Ms. Yang Yunjie, 55, was arrested on June 13, 2022. She was previously arrested numerous times and spent two years in a labor camp for practicing Falun Gong.

Ms. Yang was arrested by officers from the Chongqing Road Police Station on June 13, as soon as she left home. The officers ransacked her rented home and confiscated some Falun Gong books. Ms. Yang was held in the police station for 72 hours, during which time her family was not notified. Ms. Yang’s relatives could not find her, and finally called the police, only to find out that she was at the police station. The officers told Ms. Yang to sign the detention notice, but she and her family refused to sign because the police held her in custody beyond the time allowed by law.

Ms. Yang’s family received a call around 10 p.m. on July 4, from the police station and learned that she had been arrested again and was taken to the Changchun City No. 4 Detention Center. The laptop and mobile phone she was carrying were also confiscated. The police threatened to sentence her to prison.

3. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Tong Xuesheng Held in Detention Center for Two Years

Mr. Tong Xuesheng, 37, was arrested by officers from the Tianhe District Police Department on July 3, 2020. He is still being held in the Tianhe Detention Center.

4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Zhu Mingdi and Cai Xiuying Arrested

Zhu Mingdi (gender unknown) and Ms. Cai Xiuying from the Xiangfang District received a call from case handler Huang Kaichen on July 5, 2022. Huang told them to go to the Longnan Police Department with their national ID cards to pick up the items that were confiscated from them. On the morning of July 6, the two practitioners went to the police department and were arrested again. It is unclear where they are being held.

5. [Huarong County, Hunan Province] Mr. Liu Guozhang and Ms. Luo Zhaoxiu Pass Away

Mr. Liu Guozhang was from Donggang Village, Caojun Town. After Mr. Liu sued Jiang Zemin, the former head of the Chinese Communist Party, his home was ransacked by 610 Office staff and Domestic Security Division officers in Huarong County. He later lived with his youngest daughter in the county seat. Officers from Caojun Town Police Station continuously called his daughter’s home and harassed him. Mr. Liu was displaced for several months, his health deteriorated, and he passed away on March 12, 2019.

Ms. Luo Zhaoxiu, 76, from Xingou Village, Hucheng Township, filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin on June 26, 2015. She was harassed at home by county, township, and village officials for an extended period of time.

Ms. Luo’s grandson, Chen Dong, is an auxiliary police officer at the Chengxi Police Station in Huarong County. Her son and daughter-in-law were afraid that their son would lose his job and strongly opposed her practicing Falun Gong. Her son smashed and destroyed her electric bicycle and did not allow her to go out. When he saw her reading a Falun Gong book, he would grab it and tear it up. Seeing that she had not given up practicing Falun Gong, her son cut off the electricity at her home this year. Ms. Luo had to go live with her daughter. She passed away in March this year (the exact date is not clear).

6. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Cao Xilin Passed Away

Mr. Cao Xilin from Huanghua City was arrested by officers from the Jiucheng Town Police Station while talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers market. The officers ransacked his home. He developed illness symptoms as a result of severe physical and mental persecution. He passed away in September 2020 at the age of 74.

7. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Eight Practitioners Arrested

Ms. Zhang Bihua, 70, Mr. Zhang Qilin, about 80, Ms. Zhou Yunyan, 70, Ms. Yang Guangrong, in her 60s, Ms. Cao Deyuan, in her 70s, Ms. Liu, and two other female practitioners both with the last name Li were followed on June 23, 2022. They were arrested by officers from the Jiefulu Police Station on Desheng Road. Most of the practitioners’ homes were ransacked, but they all returned home that night.

The officers confiscated a large number of truth clarification letters and other personal belongings from Ms. Zhang Bihua’s home. The officers attempted to restrict her personal freedom by insisting that Ms. Zhang report to the police station whenever they contacted her.

8. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Yu Hanmei and Mr. Xing Hui Arrested

Ms. Yu Hanmei, from Gongqing City, was arrested by Domestic Security Division officers in Gongqing City on June 12, 2022. She was taken to the Jiujiang City Detention Center. She was pressured to sign the paperwork, which she refused.

Mr. Xing Hui was arrested by Domestic Security Division officers in Gongqing City at 7 a.m. on June 14. He was held in custody for 26 hours. He returned home at 9 a.m. on June 15. The officers ransacked his home and confiscated two computers and a cell phone.

9. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Yanhui’s Health Deteriorates Due to Persecution

Mr. Wang Yanhui is from Beiligezhuang Village, Qingyuan District. In the summer of 2021, he was arrested by officers from the Ranzhuang Police Station for telling people how wonderful Falun Gong is and how practicing it benefited him both physically and mentally. He was later released.

In the fall of 2021, director Wang Pengfei of Yangcheng Township Police Station in the Qingyuan District, broke into Mr. Wang’s home several times without showing any documents. Director Wang forcibly took him to have medical examinations three times and placed him under residential surveillance.

One day in April 2022, director Wang brought an arrest warrant to Mr. Wang’s home and told him to sign it.

On June 9, 2022, director Wang broke into Mr. Wang’s home again and wanted to arrest him. Mr. Wang asked him, “Is it a crime to have faith? Is it a crime to be a kind person?” Director Wang said, “No.”

Several years of harassment and persecution have disrupted the lives of Mr. Wang and his family. His wife now has urinary incontinence and heart problems, and she has to take medication for her heart. Mr. Wang could not calm down when he practiced the Falun Gong exercises, and his health deteriorated rapidly.

10. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Yang Yingchun Tried

Yang Yingchun (gender unknown) from Jing County was tried by Jing County Court on July 1, 2022.

Yang was reported to the police while talking to students about Falun Gong this year.Yang was arrested and released on bail by Jing County Police Department.

11. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Yuhong Severely Beaten in Prison

Ms. Zhang Yuhong was held in the No. 6 Team, the No. 5 Ward, Liaoning Provincial Women’s Prison. After watching the national television station’s news broadcast on the evening of April 12, 2020, inmates Zhang Xiaomeng, Zong Rongrong and two other inmates beat Ms. Zhang in her cell. They slapped her head with the soles of their shoes. They filled a large laundry tub with water and emptied it onto her bed and quilt.

A few days later, Ms. Zhang suffered a stroke (cerebral hemorrhage) and underwent a craniotomy in the hospital. She was paralyzed in bed and unable to take care of herself. Her current situation is unknown.

12. [Xiangcheng City, Henan Province] Ms. Shi Yanling Harassed

Three people, including a residential police officer and Xiangcheng City Domestic Security Division officers, went to Ms. Shi Yanling’s home around 8 a.m. on July 6, 2022. They confiscated two Falun Gong books and two laptops. They photographed her and threatened her.

13. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Luo Haihong Arrested

It was reported that Ms. Luo Haihong, a primary school music teacher in the Haizhu District, was arrested by officers from the Nanhuaxi Police Station on the morning of July 6, 2022. Subsequently, the officers ransacked her home. After hearing the news, her relatives went to the police station and asked to meet with her. The police turned down their request. Ms. Luo’s situation is currently unknown.

14. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Mr. Du Pinglin and Wife Ms. Liu Honghong Taken to Brainwashing Center

Mr. Du Pinglin and his wife Ms. Liu Honghong were arrested at home by Domestic Security officers on June 24, 2022. The officers confiscated two Falun Gong books, cell phones, and a computer. The couple was held in the Gaomi City Legal Education Center for 13 days.

A few months ago, the officers went to Mr. Du’s home under the excuse of checking his electric car for fire safety. Afterward, Mr. Du found two GPS tracking devices on his car’s battery module. The officers also installed surveillance cameras on the building of Mr. Du’s home to monitor people entering and leaving it.

Mr. Du’s eldest brother, eldest sister-in-law, sister, brother-in-law, and Ms. Liu Honghong’s sister-in-law on her mother's side were also arrested on June 24. They were released a day later. The entire family is terrified.

15. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Xiwei Tried

Ms. Zhang Xiwei from Liquan County was arrested by officers from the Yanta District Police Department’s Domestic Security Division on July 21, 2021. She has been held in the Yanta District Detention Center for nearly a year. She was tried via video link by the Yanta District Court on May 30, 2022. No court decision has been announced so far.

16. [Fuxin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Cui Yanling Suffers Mental Collapse

Ms. Cui Yanling was incarcerated in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. No one knows what kind of abuse she was subjected to, but afterward, she became mentally unstable. She has difficulty communicating and her family had to send her to a psychiatric hospital several times.

17. [Linyi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Qi Guiling’s Home Ransacked

Six or seven people, including Yaodianzi Town Committee members and police station officers in Yishui County, broke into Ms. Qi Guiling’s home on June 29, 2022. They told her that someone reported her to the police, then they started to ransack her home. Ms. Qi managed to escape.

18. [Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Chen Liang Arrested

Mr. Chen Liang from Liquan County was working in his vegetable greenhouse on the morning of June 27, 2022. Four officers from the Liquan County Police Department broke in and took him to the basement of the police department for interrogation. They held him in custody for five days, and Mr. Chen’s 81-year-old mother was left unattended. The officers also confiscated his Falun Gong books, including Zhuan Falun, Master’s Collected Fa Teachings Vol. 12 through Vol.15, two audio players, four or five memory cards, and a cell phone.

The officers also gave him a medical examination, which cost Mr. Chen over 200 yuan.

19. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Han Shuhua Arrested

Ms. Han Shuhua was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong at the Carrefour Supermarket on the afternoon of July 3, 2022. She was arrested by officers from the Zhonghua Road Police Station.

20. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Ms. Li Weiping and Ms. Lin Guichen Sentenced to Prison

Ms. Li Weiping and Ms. Lin Guichen were tried via video link by the Mawei District Court in recent days. They were each sentenced to four years in prison. Their families wanted to appeal. Both practitioners have been held in a detention center for about two years.

21. [Taian Ctiy, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Jinhui Faces Trial

Ms. Sun Jinhui was arrested prior to Chinese New Year’s Day (February 1, 2022) by Tian Lin, a team head of the Taishan District Police Department, and members of the 610 Office for distributing Falun Gong informational desk calendars last year. Her case was turned over to the Taishan District Procuratorate.

She was placed under residential surveillance by the Taishan District Procuratorate on June 10, 2022, for six months. On July 5, she was notified that she would be tried by the Taishan District Court on July 20.

At 7 a.m. on July 5, Zhang Qingmin of Taian City Police Department, Zhang Xunzhao of Taishan District Police Department, and others broke into Ms. Sun’s home. They told her that she was needed at the Taishan District Court to listen to the charges against her and they forcibly took her away.

At the entrance of the district court, they handed Ms. Sun the summons issued by the court and the indictment from the Taishan District Procuratorate.
