Additional Persecution News from China – July 19, 2022 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] The Case Against Mr. Wu Haibo Submitted to Procuratorate

Mr. Wu Haibo was arrested by police in the Xiashan District on March 5, 2022. He was detained in the Shuixi County Detention Center and was later transferred to the Zhanjiang Detention Center. His case has been submitted to the Chikan District Procuratorate. 

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhou Guanghui Arrested and Detained

Ms. Zhou Guanghui was arrested at home by officers from the Xianfeng Police Station on the morning of July 11, 2022. Another practitioner who was visiting her was also arrested. The police ransacked Ms. Zhou’s home and confiscated a laptop, a cell phone, a Falun Gong book, and a photo of Falun Gong’s founder. Ms. Zhou was placed under 15-day detention. 

3. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Three Family Members Arrested

Ms. Fu Chunhua and her daughter Ms. Jiang Jing were arrested in a barber shop. Her husband Mr. Jiang Qianguo was arrested at home by officers from the Baishi Road Police Station on the afternoon of July 16, 2022. Three of them were taken to the Shihuiyao Police Station. Their home was ransacked. Mr. Jiang Qianguo and his wife Ms. Fu Chunhua were taken to the Muping Detention Center on the afternoon of July 17, 2022. Their daughter Ms. Jiang Jing was released due to her health issue and was placed under residential surveillance. 

4. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Pingying Detained in a Brainwashing Center

Ms. Wang Pingying from the Xinzhou District was arrested by officers from the Zhucheng Street Police Station on the morning of July 10, 2022. The reason for her arrest was that she was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong in March 2022. Ms. Wang was taken to the Liuji Brainwashing Center and has been detained there since. 

5. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Hongyun Harassed

Four officers including the head of the Yagou Police Station went to Mr. Liu Hongyun’s home on the morning of July 11, 2022. They ransacked his home and confiscated a laptop, a media player, a cell phone, an e-book, five photos of Falun Gong’s founder, and multiple Falun Gong books. They asked his son where Mr. Liu was. They also went to the son’s home and questioned Mr. Liu’s daughter-in-law. Mr. Liu’s son was taken to the police station and his cell phone was confiscated. His son was pressured to sign the list of confiscated items, and was told to tell Mr. Liu that he was required to go through the procedure on bail pending trial. Mr. Liu and his wife now stay away from their home to avoid further persecution. 

6. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhou Qiying and Ms. Chen Guifen Harassed

Ms. Zhou Qiying was harassed by two officers from the Xinxing Town Police Station around 2 p.m. on July 15, 2022. They tried to photograph her. 

Ms. Chen Guifen was harassed at home by three people from the Liuhe Community Office on the same day. They photographed her. 

7. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Guo Lifeng Harassed

Ms. Guo Lifeng was arrested by officers from the Nongda Police Station and the Nongken Police Department when she went to the bank in Tiexicun on the morning of June 21, 2022. She was taken to the police station and was pressured to pay 10,000 yuan as bail. She was released that evening. A few days later, she was harassed again by people from the No. 857 Community of Beidaying. 

8. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Qi Xiufen Harassed

The police went to Ms. Qi Xiufen’s home and ransacked it on July 13, 2022. Ms. Qi, who works in the Yuanbaoshan Power Plane, was not at home at that time.

9. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Jiang Daili Harassed

Two officers went to Mr. Jiang Daili’s home around 11 a.m. on July 14, 2022. They asked whether Mr. Jiang still practiced Falun Gong and photographed him. They said higher authorities ordered them to do this. 

10. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Qin Yali Detained

Ms. Qin Yali has been detained in the Gujiao Detention Center for months.

11. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Xuemei Harassed

Officers from the Longnan Police Department went to Ms. Wang Xuemei’s home and ransacked it at 3 p.m. on July 12, 2022. They confiscated her Zhuan Falun. Ms. Wang was told that she was held on bail pending trial.

12. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Chen Limei Harassed

Police suspected Ms. Chen Limei of providing truth clarifying materials. They have been searching for her. Her husband and her older son were called to the police department for questioning. The police followed her daughter. Every member of her family’s cell phones were tapped. The guards in the residential community were told to monitor her family. Ms. Chen has left her home to avoid further persecution. 

13. [Tianjin] Five Practitioners Persecuted

Five practitioners were arrested on April 14, 2021 and were sentenced to prison from one to four years respectively. Ms. Guo Wenjian was sentenced to four years in prison and is still imprisoned. Ms. Zhang Shumin, Ms. Wang Jianying and Ms. Li Xiuhong, have been released. Hu Dongjie’s whereabouts are unknown.

14. [Dongning City, Heilongjiang Province] Three Practitioners Harassed

Four officers including Yin Lili, head of the domestic security division, went to Ms. Li Xiuzhen’s home on June 6, 2022. They pressured Ms. Li to go to the police department but stopped after Ms. Li resisted and collapsed to the ground. They returned on the afternoon of July 11, 2022. Ms. Li was not at home.

Ms. Lang Shuxiang and her non-practitioner family members including her husband and two sons, were taken by the police on the morning of June 29, 2022. Her family members were released after they were questioned. Ms. Lang was released later that afternoon. 

Ms. Wang Shuling was harassed at home by officers including Wang Chunwu on the morning of July 11, 2022. To avoid further frightening her 90-year-old mother, Ms. Wang agreed to go with them to the police station. She returned one hour later. 

15. [Nanzheng County, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Tan Guangming Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

Ms. Tan Guangming from Zheng County was sentenced to six years in prison and was taken to prison in June 2022. She was imprisoned for five years and was released at the end of 2018.
