(Minghui.org) In the past 23 years of the persecution of Falun Gong, the Shijiazhuang City Second Detention Center in Hebei Province has been used to detain female practitioners in Shijiazhuang and the surrounding suburban counties. The detention center officials and guards have been actively participating in the persecution.
Currently, eleven Falun Gong practitioners are being detained there. Some were arrested in late 2021 and some in early 2022. Four of them were from Shijiazhuang and seven from the nearby Shenze county. Their current situations are unknown because the detention center officials denied their visitation with their lawyers and family members.
Below are detailed information about them.
Ms. Ma Yinhuan in Critical Condition After More Than 50 Days of Hunger Strike
Ms. Ma Yinhuan, a Shijiazhuang resident, was arrested at home on May 9, 2022 by the police from Huanghe Avenue Police Station and her home was raided as well. Police claimed that the surveillance camera caught her hanging up Falun Gong banners around May 1.
Ms. Ma held a hunger strike to protest the arbitrary arrest. The police denied her access to necessities, including toilet paper, and force-fed her.
Her detention was approved on the second day of her arrest. She was taken to Shijiazhuang City Second Detention Center three weeks later.
At the time of this report, Ms. Ma has been on hunger strike for more than 50 days, and is in critical condition. The officials of the detention center used various excuses to obstruct her meeting with her lawyer.
Her family worried about her condition and requested her release. However, the detention center told her family that they had reported her situation to the police station, which denied receiving it. Both the detention center and the police station refused to release her.
Six Seized in a Group Arrest Still Detained, One of Them in Critical Condition
More than ten Falun Gong practitioners in Shenze County, Shijiazhuang City were arrested in the middle of the night of January 10, 2022. The police covered their heads with black hoods and took them to a hotel in Jinzhou City for interrogation.
Seven of them were transferred to Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center with heads covered with black head covers on January 27. Six of them remain detained there, including Ms. Ma Tongxin, 78, Ms. Liu Xiaomiao, 75, Ms. He Hongyan, Ms. Liu Yuru, Ms. Jiao Yaqin, and Ms. Tian Xuan. They are all facing trial by the Jinzhou City Court. The seventh practitioner, Ms. Zhang Huixin, who was arrested with them, has been released in early March.
Among the practitioners, Ms. Liu Xiaomiao was taken to the hospital several times for resuscitation.
When Ms. Liu was detained in a hotel in Jinzhou City following her arrest, she was handcuffed and forced to sit and sleep on the floor covered with foam boards, with her head covered with a black covering. Due to mental and physical stress, she was unable to eat anything and her health deteriorated quickly.
She has been receiving infusions at the Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center. But her condition continued to decline. She had been sent to Shijiazhuang Second Hospital several times for resuscitation.
Ms. Liu has severe nearsightedness. However, she had no glasses after her arrest, until a month later when her family learned about it and sent her a pair.
Her daughter was heartbroken about her suffering and her relatives all worried about her condition. However, the police still constantly tried to force her to write a statement renouncing Falun Gong.
The Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center asked the police to take her back, but Jinzhou City Police Department and Shenze County Police Department both refused to take over her case.
Four Other Practitioners Detained
Ms. Liu Peng and her daughter Ms. Wang Bingcheng, both residents of Shijiazhuang, were arrested on October 9, 2021, after having been monitored for more than six months. The police from Xinhua Police Department Domestic Security Division, Zhaolingpu Police Station, and Chang’an Police Department carried out their arrests and they ransacked their home as well.
The mother-daughter duo were first detained at Tangu Police Station and then taken to Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center. Their arrests were approved and their cases were submitted to Qiaoxi District Court. Their current situations in the detention center were unknown.
Cai Huolie, the director of Baizhuang Police Station, led two officers to Ms. Yuan Wenge’s home on the afternoon of December 23, 2021 and arrested her. They came to her home again on the evening of the same day and ordered her husband to sign the detention notice, claiming that they had sent her to the Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center.
It was recently learned that her case had been filed with the Jinzhou City Court. Ms. Yuan had been detained three times before and sent to a brainwashing facility once during the past years.
Ms. Pu Xingchi, a 45-year-old art teacher from Shijiazhuang, was arrested at home on January 23, 2022, while she was teaching her class online. Her family could not find out about her whereabouts and her status for more than three months after her arrest. They recently learned that her case was filed with the Qiaoxi District Prosecutor and she was being detained in Shijiazhuang Second Detention Center. The police had harassed her prior to her arrest.
