(Minghui.org) I am a middle school teacher. Due to a lack of teachers in the elementary school, the school management assigned me to temporarily teach the course “Thought and Morality” to fourth graders. This was in addition to my teaching middle school classes.
I took over the class near the end of the school term, and the material in the textbook had already been taught. In the first class, I told the students frankly, “This subject is not my major. I was told yesterday to start teaching it today, and I have not had time to read the textbook.” I then asked them to review the content they learned, and told them, “You can raise any questions you have during your review. We can discuss them together.” I then started reading through the textbook.
About three to five minutes later, a little girl walked up to the podium with the textbook in her hand. She pointed to the page and said, “Teacher, the textbook says that Falun Gong is [slanderous word omitted] and committed the self-immolation in Tiananmen Square. But an auntie in my neighbor told me that it is not true. Was the auntie right?”
I was not expecting this question, and felt stunned for a moment. The little girl then said, “The auntie practices Falun Gong, and she is really nice.” At this time, what the principal and grade director often said echoed in my ear, “You practice Falun Gong and have gone to appeal for Falun Gong. You are a person under observation. If it was not for the urgent need for teachers due to the unified exam, the school would never have reinstated you. Don’t talk about Falun Gong in school, or we cannot guarantee your job!” While I was pondering this, a boy in a front seat whispered, “This teacher is a Falun Gong practitioner.”
The classroom was very quiet. All the students heard him clearly even though his voice was low; they all stared at me. I came to realize that my pondering reflected that I was afraid, and that I should eliminate the fear with righteous thoughts.
I understood that I was a Dafa practitioner in the Fa-rectification period, and that saving lives is my mission. Facing all the students in the classroom, I realized this was a rare opportunity to validate Dafa, and I should not hesitate. I held the righteous thought, “I have Master and I have Dafa, and I am doing the most righteous thing in the universe. No evil can stop me.”
With a smile, I asked the little girl to return to her seat, and I went over to the boy’s desk. I patted him on the shoulder and told all the students, “He is right. I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I used to be weak and sick all the time and had to take medicine all year for it. But the medication did not help much. I began to learn and practice Falun Gong in February 1997. All my illnesses were soon healed without having to take medication. I have not taken a single pill of medicine since then, for more than ten years. Cultivating Falun Gong not only has miraculous effects of curing diseases, but also improves one’s moral character and spiritual realms. Cultivating Falun Gong benefits the country and the people without any harm.” The students listened intently; I continued, “Zhuan Falun is the main book for cultivating Falun Gong, the book teaches that Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is the supreme law of the universe.”
I wrote the characters “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” on the blackboard and asked the students, “Do you know these three characters?” They read the characters together in one voice. I then asked, “Does anyone understand the meaning of the characters? Who can stand up and explain the meaning?” They raised their hands. I asked the monitor and a group leader to explain the literal meaning of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and they explained them very well. I praised them and gave the students further explanation. I then asked, “Is Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance good?” The students all answered, “Yes!” I said, “Then, we should all strive to follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to be good people in the future.”
I called the little girl up and said, “Falun Gong teaches people to be good people by following Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Now you can ask your classmates, ‘Is Falun Gong [slanderous word omitted]?’” The students all laughed and answered in one voice, “No!” I asked again, “Are the ones who don’t allow people to follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance evil?” The students all shouted, “Evil!” I said, “The evil, whether it is an individual or an organization, is harmful to people. A heavenly principle is that good is rewarded and evil will meet with retribution. When the evil commits crimes, heaven will punish it. If one day Heaven destroys the evil organizations that oppose Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, are the members of the organizations in danger?”
The students looked at one another; they were concerned. A boy then stood up and said in excitement, “Teacher, I have seen the phrases, ‘Quit the CCP and its organizations for a safe future’ written on paper money. Now I understand its meaning.” I encouraged him to say more about his understanding. He said, “We have all joined the Young Pioneers. We should quit the organization for a safe future!” I took this chance to tell them about the mystical “Hidden Character Stone” in Guizhou. I explained what it means to quit the CCP and its organizations, and why quitting it can ensure one’s safety. Then I said, “You are elementary school students, and you have all joined the Young Pioneers. Whoever wants to quit the Young Pioneers sincerely can raise your hand now.” I then appointed a student in each row to take down the names of the students in that row with their hand-up. The amount of children totaled 43 students in the class who raised their hands. The whole class had a lively discussion about it.
After the discussion calmed down, I pointed out the doubtful points in the textbook about the “Tiananmen Self-immolation.” I asked the students to discuss these points and about the falsehood of the text. The whole class concluded that the “Tiananmen Self-immolation” was a fabrication to defame Falun Gong. In the final several minutes of the class I told the students that Falun Gong has spread to more than 100 countries and regions around the world.
When the bell rang to end the class, I summarized, “I was very happy to discuss this with you today to resolve your questions about Falun Gong. Everyone has learned the truth about Falun Gong. Understanding the truth is a blessing. I hope you can share what you learned today with your parents and family members. Be as complete as possible when you share this. You can discuss the doubts about the “Tiananmen Self-immolation” with your parents, help them to understand the truth about Falun Gong, and tell them about quitting the CCP so they can also choose a better future for themselves!” I then walked out of the classroom to a resounding response from the students.
Walking back to my office, I thought about the scenes in today’s class with a deep feeling that everything was arranged by Master, and that all sentient beings are waiting to learn the truth about Falun Gong and to receive Dafa’s salvation.
I am grateful for Master’s compassionate salvation and protection, which helped me handle many ups and downs in my cultivation with a firm mind. I feel proud and honored to be a Falun Gong practitioner.
There is no way I can repay Master’s grace. The only thing I can do is to diligently read the Fa and cultivate myself, to discard my human attachments and various notions, and do the three things well in order to live up to the Master’s salvation.
