Additional Persecution News from China - June 9, 2022 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 38 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Beijing] Ms. Jia Fengzhi Sent Back to Prison

Ms. Jia Fengzhi, in her 50s, was arrested on November 9, 2019, for distributing calendars which had information about Falun Gong. She was sentenced to three and a half year prison term and fined 35,000 yuan on September 7, 2020. After being incarcerated at the Pinggu District Detention Center, Ms. Jia was transferred to the Tiantanghe Women’s Prison around November 18, 2021. She developed a severe medical condition less than one month after being transferred there.

She was taken to an intensive care unit on December 10, 2021 and May 16, 2022 because of an extremely low platelet count. On June 6, Ms. Jia Fengzhi was sent back to the third ward of the Tiantanghe Women’s Prison after the hospital said her platelets returned to the normal range. However, she now stutters as a side effect of treatment.

2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Six Practitioners Detained for Over a Year

Ms. Li Yun from Xindu District was arrested on April 25, 2021. Five practitioners, including Liu Guohua (gender unknown), Xie Shiying (gender unknown), Ms. Zhou Yuxiu, Ms. Zhang Xunju, and her husband, Mr. Huang Huaizhou, were arrested on May 12, 2022. To date, they have been detained for more than one year.

3. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Ms. Jiang Qiuying Harassed

About seven people from the Yuyue Police Station in Jiayu County and the local community broke into Ms. Jiang Qiuying’s home on June 5, 2022. They ransacked the place and confiscated her Falun Gong books and some printed information about Falun Gong.

They pressured Ms. Jiang to give up her practice, which she refused. They then took her son, who did not practice Falun Gong, to the police station and detained him for an entire day. The police pressured him to persuade his mother to renounce her faith in Falun Gong, and threatened to get him fired if his mother continued practicing.

4. [Xianning City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhang Yulin Harassed

Six people broke into Mr. Zhang Yulin’s home on April 3, 2022. Two of them carried fully loaded guns. They ransacked his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books, the photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and some Falun Gong materials.

Mr. Zhang was not at home at that time. They told his wife that if he did not give up practicing Falun Gong, their children and grandchildren would be affected.

5. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Yao Wenjiang Arrested

Mr. Yao Wenjiang, from Baidao’an Village, Laiyuan County, was arrested by three officers, including Zhang Fang from the Laiyuan Police Department, on June 6, 2022, while distributing Falun Gong materials on Shahe Street. Mr. Yao was beaten when he refused to be photographed. He returned home in the afternoon.

6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Numerous Practitioners Detained in Brainwashing Centers

Ms. Zhou Ailin has been detained in the Qiaokou District Etouwan Brainwashing Center since September 2021. Ms. Jiang Qundi, Ms. Lin, Ms. Ding, and several other practitioners are also held there. Ms. Zong Ming is being detained in an unknown place nearby.

7. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Mu Defeng Harassed

Three people who falsely claimed they were reading gas meters went to Ms. Mu Defeng’s house in Gexianshan Town. They looked around and photographed her as soon as they entered her home.

8. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Five Practitioners Face Hearing

The Lianshan District Court scheduled a virtual trial on June 22, 2022 for five practitioners, including Liu Yuhua, Liu Yanhui, Wang Jing, Zhou Liyun, and Zu Xiangchun. Their families were not notified, and the trial was not public.

9. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Xiao Ailing and Mr. Ruan Xinghai Arrested

Three uniformed officers and one in plainclothes broke into Mr. Ruan Xinghai’s and Ms. Xiao Ailing’s home on June 6, 2022. They searched their home and called more officers to join them in ransacking the place. They confiscated their Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. The couple was taken to the Longgang Branch in Ranghulu District. They were released on bail after their relatives paid 10,000 yuan in bail.

10. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Zhiying Arrested

Ms. Liu Zhiying, in Songguantun Community, was arrested by officers from the Songguantun Police Station when she talked to people about Falun Gong on June 4, 2022. Her home was ransacked in the evening. The police interrogated and photographed her. They also took her fingerprints. Ms. Liu returned home at midnight.

11. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Xu Chunzhan Arrested

Xu Chunzhan (gender unknown) from Xuzhuang Village was arrested by officers from the Gudian Town Police Station on June 8, 2022. He returned home at around 7 p.m. that day.

12. [Dezhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Guilan Arrested

Ms. Liu Guilan, from the Economic Development Zone, was arrested by officers from the Songguantun Police Station while distributing cards with QR codes on May 30, 2022. Her home was ransacked the next day. She was detained in the Dezhou Detention Center, but has now returned home.

13. [Chongqing] Mr. Fei Mingyan Harassed Repeatedly

Mr. Fei Mingyan, 51, from Wanshouqiao Village, Shuitu Town, Beipei District, is disabled. Wang Chong from the Shuitu Town Police Station led two village clerks to Mr. Fei’s temporary residence and harassed him on June 8, 2022.

Mr. Fei was detained once in 2000, sent to the forced labor camp for three years in 2001, and sentenced to six years in prison in 2008. Mr. Fei has been harassed repeatedly for years.

14. [Handan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Yuehong Harassed

Three officers from the Sucao Police Station in Congtai District broke into Ms. Zhang Yuehong’s home and took videos and photographs.

15. [Pingyuan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Xiaoxia Faces Trial

The Pingyuan County Court planned to try Ms. Li Xiaoxia on June 15, 2022. The Prosecutor returned the case against Ms. Li to the Pingyuan County Police Department in 2021, but they submitted the case again.

Ms. Li was sent to forced labor camps twice. She is now detained in the Pingyuan County Detention Center.

16. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Seven Practitioners Face Trial

Seven practitioners, including Ms. Li Ying and Mr. Zhao Juncheng, were scheduled to be tried on June 13, 2022, by the Dengta Court. They were arrested on December 8, 2021 by the Liaoyang Police Department Domestic Security Division, the Baita District Domestic Security Division, and the Wensheng Police Station

17. [Huainan City, Anhui Province] Ms. Ge Xuemei Placed under Residential Surveillance

Ms. Ge Xuemei, 60, from Qianfeng Second Village in Tianan District, was placed under residential surveillance on May 12, 2022.
