(Minghui.org) A Liaocheng City, Shandong Province resident was sentenced to three years in early April 2022 for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Sun Yubin, 74, was reported for putting up posters about Falun Gong on October 13, 2021. The police ransacked his home at 7 p.m. and took away his Falun Gong books and computer.

Under the instruction of Dongchangfu District 610 Office, an extralegal agency created to persecute Falun Gong, the Dong’e County Court sentenced Mr. Sun to three years with a 10,000 yuan fine in early April. Due to the pandemic, he is still held at the Liaocheng Detention Center at the time of writing.

In the past 23 years, Shandong has always been one of the top provinces with the most severe persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. In the nationwide “Zero-out” harassment campaign aimed at targeting every practitioner on the government’s blacklist, the authorities in Shandong went after every practitioner they could find, including those in their 80s and 90s, and ordered them to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong. Some practitioners were harassed over ten times. If the officials couldn’t find the practitioners, they targeted their family members.

Based on the information obtained by Minghui.org, over 4,466 persecution cases of Falun Gong practitioners were reported in Shandong Province between January 1, 2021, and January 31, 2022.

Among the reported cases, eight practitioners passed away, 101 were sentenced, 87 were going through court trials, 77 were on bail awaiting trial, 170 were indicted, and 965 were arrested but later released. There were 412 instances of practitioners having their homes ransacked, 545 being in detention without being indicted yet, 234 instances of brainwashing, 143 cases of financial loss (such as fines and pension suspension), 73 cases of being photographed and videotaped without their consent, 47 cases of being forced to undergo physical exams, 28 cases of being displaced or missing, 14 cases of being placed under tight surveillance, and 1,562 of being harassed.
