Additional Persecution News from China – April 8, 2022 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 10 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

9. [Taian City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Weidong Arrested

1. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zhan Zhiyin’s Appeal Denied

Mr. Zhan Zhiyin, 49, was arrested by Tianhe District police on August 13, 2020, for distributing Falun Gong flyers. The Tianhe District Procuratorate charged him on November 16, 2020.

The Haizhu District Court sentenced him to two years in prison and fined him 5,000 yuan. He appealed. The Guangzhou City Intermediate Court confirmed the sentence on December 30, 2021.

2. [Tonghe County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Xiuying Imprisoned

Ms. Zhang Xiuying was taken to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on February 18, 2022. She was held in the First Group, Training Camp, Eighth Ward.

She was sentenced to four-and-a-half-years in prison and fined 15,000 yuan on September 11, 2019.

3. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhu Tianfu Arrested

Mr. Zhu Tianfu of Caiyuan Village was arrested by plainclothes officers on April 4, 2022, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. His home was ransacked. His brother, Mr. Zhu Tianzhong, was beaten by police when he tried to stop the illegal search. As a result his face was swollen and bruised.

4. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Xu Wenlong Released on Bail

Mr. Xu Wenlong was arrested when he distributed Falun Gong flyers near the Zhiyuan Police Station. Officers seized over 400 flyers from him. He was released on bail since detention centers did not accept any new detainees during the pandemic.

5. [Jidong County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sun Fengying Missing Over 22 Years

Ms. Sun Fengying of Donghai Town was arrested during mass arrest of practitioners before October 1, 1999. She has not been seen or heard from since then.

6. [Jin County, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Dandan Detained

Ms. Li Dandan of Shang Village distributed Falun Gong flyers on the evening of March 28, 2022. She was seen on a surveillance camera and arrested at home that night by officers from the Gaobeidian Police Station. She was transferred to the Chaoyang Police Department two days later and detained there.

7. [Linquan County, Anhui Province] Ms. Liu Yueying Harassed

Ms. Liu Yueying was harassed at home by officers from the Beiguan Police Station around 7:00 p.m. on March 10, 2022. The officers seized Zhuan Falun from a desk, a picture of the founder of Falun Gong, and a music player.

8. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Dong Jing and Ms. Tian Lili Arrested

Ms. Dong Jing and Ms. Tian Lili were arrested and taken to the Fumin Police Station on the afternoon of April 7, 2022, when they were talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in Wugong Street. They were later released.

9. [Taian City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhao Weidong Arrested

Mr. Zhao Weidong, 60, is a former assistant engineer and worked at Xinhua Machinery. He was arrested by officers from the Sanli Police Station on the afternoon of April 5, 2022, when he was distributing Falun Gong flyers in the Taishan Medical School Affiliated Hospital.

Two officers ransacked his home the following afternoon. They seized several pieces of paper with the Chinese character for “good fortune.” Afterwards he was released.
