(Minghui.org) Ms. Sun Jing, of Xinbin County, Liaoning Province, was sentenced to four years with a 10,000-yuan fine on February 28, 2022 for practicing Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. This is the second time that Ms. Sun, 68, has been sentenced for her faith.

Ms. Sun and her husband Mr. Li Guikun were arrested at home around 7 p.m. on September 8, 2021, by over ten officers led by Zhang Lijun, the head of the Xinbin County Domestic Security Office. The couple’s computer, printer, Falun Gong books and photo of Falun Gong’s founder were confiscated. They were then taken to the Xinbin Police Station.

The next day, the police ordered their family to pay 1,000 yuan to cover the physical examinations and coronavirus DNA tests. Ms. Sun was taken to the Fushun Detention Center in the afternoon and Mr. Li to the Xinbin County Detention Center. While Mr. Li was released on bail after eight days, Ms. Sun remains detained.

The police submitted Ms. Sun’s case to the Shuncheng District Procuratorate a week later. The prosecutor returned her case for insufficient evidence. The police attempted to force her husband and son to sign her case documents to frame her, but they refused to comply. After the police submitted her case for the second time, the prosecutor indicted her and moved her case to the Shuncheng District Court.

Ms. Sun was tried at the detention center on February 21 and was convicted one week later. She is now appealing the sentence.
