Memorizing the Teachings Changes Everything

(Minghui.org) Before I retired, I began looking for a true cultivation practice, but I couldn’t find one. I felt hopeless when I was critically ill, and I was certain I’d never find a true way. However, when I first read Zhuan Falun and saw Master Li Hongzhi's photo in 1999, I felt I found what I was looking for and excitedly began practicing Falun Dafa.

It took me one week to memorize “On Dafa.” I then tried to memorize every sentence in Zhuan Falun as soon as I read it. But I was only able to memorize part of the first lecture after more than a month. Another practitioner suggested I stop memorizing so I could finish reading Zhuan Falun. So I temporarily stopped memorizing, but I still spent a lot of time memorizing Hong Yin and Essentials for Further Advancement.

When the persecution began, I was imprisoned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for practicing Dafa. At that time, I could recite part of the first lecture of Zhuan Falun, many poems in Hong Yin, and Essentials for Further Advancement. Every day, I spent a lot of time repeatedly reciting the Fa. I felt Master Li was right beside me, so I didn’t waver in those challenging days.

The Boundless Power of Dafa 

In the labor camp, a so-called “backbone” CCP member—a former practitioner, attempted to brainwash me. I used the opportunity to teach her how to recite articles in Essentials for Further Advancement. The boundless power of Dafa awakened her, and she resumed cultivation.

Another former practitioner attempted to transform me, so I recited the Fa to her. She soon resumed cultivation and told the prison guard, “I shouldn’t renounce Dafa. I declare that my words and deeds while I was brainwashed are null and void.”

Because of my unwavering faith, the guards and collaborators couldn’t transform me no matter how they pressured or persecuted me. I was able to get through the test, and the former practitioners were able to wake up and resume practicing.

Master Li said,

“The Fa can break all attachments, the Fa can destroy all evil, the Fa can shatter all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts.” (“Drive Out Interference,” Essentials for Further Advancement II)

I returned home in 2011. After memorizing the three books of Hong Yin, I then memorized Zhuan Falun. At first, I memorized one paragraph at a time, then read through that section before completing the lecture. I used this method to check whether I recited correctly. I started all over again if I made any mistakes.

This method helped me systematically memorize the entire book. 

In the process of memorizing the Fa, I kept looking within and correcting myself. I had to overcome sleepiness almost every day. I also had to eliminate my attachments of laziness, fear of hardship, and desire for comfort. I felt at all times that Master was watching over me and encouraging me. My sense of mission as a disciple urged me to memorize more Fa and not slack off.

My Sincere Wish to Help People

When I started distributing information and talking to people about the persecution, I said to Master, “I want to save thousands of people.” I kept a record of the number of people who agreed to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Three years later, when the number reached ten thousand, I stopped counting.

I am a coordinator in my region. I often go to each town to deliver pamphlets and amulets. I try my best to help resolve any difficulties that practitioners have. Wherever I go, I always memorize the Fa on my way there. I feel that Master is right beside me, strengthening my righteous thoughts, taking away my sleepiness, and opening my wisdom. 

Sometimes, I leave home at seven o’clock in the morning but don’t return until seven o’clock in the evening. It was usually two or three o’clock in the morning after I finished reciting the Fa. One day, it was already four o’clock, but I got up on time to meet with a practitioner at seven o’clock.

I once visited a practitioner who lived more than 100 miles away, and I was deeply moved by her. She didn’t go to school, but after practicing Falun Dafa, she could read Dafa books. She memorized three books of Hong Yin and articles fromEssentials for Further Advancement. 

She was detained in a brainwashing center for one year. She refused to renounce Dafa while being detained and insisted on reciting the Fa and doing the exercises. Before and after her release, she went out to clarify the truth every day and helped over ten to twenty people quit the CCP and its youth organizations each time. She is already seventy years old, but she looks very young. She even learned how to break through the Internet firewall to download truth-clarification materials and produce booklets.

It was as Master said,

“It’s just that he has reached that point in spiritual practice, and it means that he has a corresponding level of faith, quality of thought, and amount of wisdom.” (The Sixth Talk, Zhuan Falun)

“Everything Is in Master’s Hands”

I immediately felt strong energy flowing throughout my body whenever I read or recited the Fa. I experienced what Master said,

“So this is a practice that automatically transforms you, leading us to say that 'the mechanisms are practicing for you,' and that 'the Way is working on your behalf.'” (The First Talk, Zhuan Falun)

When I did the second and fifth exercises, I felt that my body and surroundings were empty and comfortable.

I also experienced,

“As you sit in meditation it will seem as if your legs have disappeared and you don’t know where they are; and your body will have disappeared as well, including your arms and hands, and only your head will seem to remain. And as you go on, even your head will seem to disappear, leaving only your mind—with just a little awareness left that you are practicing there.” (The Eighth Talk, Zhuan Falun)

I felt that my body, and my environment became empty when I sent righteous thoughts. I only felt my hands remained to send forth righteous thoughts. I even sent forth righteous thoughts in my dreams!

At the beginning of the persecution, the police chief threatened me, “If you do not stop practicing Falun Dafa, your children will be fired and grandchildren will be expelled from school.” I told him, “Everything is in Master’s hands.”

My husband never interfered with my practice. He took on all the farming work and always took the initiative to prepare lunch. My pension has been suspended since October 1999 because I didn’t give up practicing. However, my husband’s income was sufficient to support us. Our children are also very considerate and always buy us food and clothing.

One of my children works as a supervisor in a state-owned enterprise. I have two grandchildren who went to top universities. My eldest grandson got a good job after graduation.

Not long ago, my son, a practitioner, had sickness karma. I told him, “Come home and start memorizing Zhuan Falun.” He spent all his time memorizing the Fa, and we only got together when we ate, did the exercises, or sent righteous thoughts. Three days later, all his symptoms disappeared.

A fellow practitioner, who hadn't see me for a year, told me, “You look younger now. It is hard to believe you're almost 80 years old. Your hair is black!”

I once went to a community to clarify the truth to a person I knew many years ago. She quit the CCP and accepted copies of the Nine Commentaries on Communist Party and The Ultimate Goal of Communism. She didn’t recognize me and said, “Thank you.” She was surprised when I told her my name, “I know you! I haven’t seen you for years. I don’t even recognize you anymore.” I told her “You are are always welcome in my home!”

Surveillance Cameras Taken Down

I have been under surveillance since the beginning of the persecution. After I filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the former CCP head, plainclothes officers or personnel from the government’s comprehensive management office followed me wherever I went. They also installed several surveillance cameras in my building and six in my neighborhood. On every sensitive date or New Year’s Day, someone came to my home and harassed me.

In recent years, my environment started to change. Two years ago, officers from the District Police Department came to my home. I wrote down their names and phone numbers, then started to clarify the truth to them. I said to the police chief, “You have committed a big crime by persecuting Falun Dafa. “You have to make up for what you’ve done!” He said, “I understand, I understand.” I then gave him a copy of an article about why the persecution violates the law and told him to take it back to the office for everyone to read. 

Since last year, nobody has followed me or come to my home to harass me.

On April 25, 2021, I saw a man from the comprehensive management office near my home. I greeted him and invited him in. I told him the truth about the persecution, and he quit the CCP. I also gave him two cards with QR codes that linked to uncensored websites and asked him to give one to his family. He thanked me repeatedly.

I later discovered the police had removed some of the surveillance cameras. Falun Dafa’s boundless power changed my cultivation environment. Thank you, Master! 

Conclusion

“All of the gong and Fa lie in the book, and one will naturally obtain them by reading Dafa.” (“Seeking Discipleship with Teacher,” Essentials for Further Advancement)

After reading Master’s Fa, I thought, “If I can recite the Fa wherever I go, my mind will always be assimilated to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Then won’t the old forces’ factors also not work anymore? The old forces are just gods from the old universe at its destruction phase. The new universe will be even more wonderful than the initial period of the previous universe. As Master’s disciples, we are here to help Master rectify the Fa.”

Master said,

“Along with this, it’s a must that you learn the Way of higher realms thoroughly and know how to practice it.” (The Third Talk, Zhuan Falun)

It is up to us to study the Fa with all our hearts. I will continue to measure my actions against the standards of the Fa to correct myself and improve my character.
