Additional Persecution News from China – January 19, 2022 (9 Reports)

1. [Liaoning Province] Twenty Six Practitioners Held in Liaoning Women’s Prison

Twenty six practitioners remain imprisoned at the Liaoning Provincial Women’s Prison. They are Fu Lihua, Han Yufeng, Zhao Feng, Ma Hui, Song Xuecun, Yu Guilan, Sun Zhongqin, Bai Shaojie, Dai Lizhi, Qin Shuzhen, Ji Yurong, Fan Yongmei, Li Yulian, Zhao Cairong, Li Xiufang, Sun Ronghua, Zhang Limin, Chen Guilan, Zhang Cuifeng, Cheng Shifeng, Liu Shujuan, Cao Yueling, Jin Yumei, Su Xiumin, Ren Liyao, and Chen Xiujie.

2. [Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Jianfang Faces Trial

Ms. Zhang Jianfang, 72, a retired worker from the Jiangyou City Mining Machinery Factory, was arrested in June 2021. She was released on bail. She recently received a subpoena from the Jiangyou City Court and was scheduled to be tried on January 20, 2022.

3. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Cases Against Ms. Cui Yanling and Ms. Wang Ying Brought to Court

Ms. Cui Yanling and Ms. Wang Ying were arrested by officers from the Hongqi Street Police Station on September 9, 2021. They have been held in custody for over four months. Their cases were brought to the Chaoyang District Court in December.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Gao Guixiu Arrested

Police departments in Changchun City, Jinzhou City, and Linghai City collaborated in arresting Ms. Gao Guixiu in Changchun City. Ms. Cao is from Yi County, Jinzhou City. She was taken to the Jinzhou Detention Center on the morning of January 14, 2022. Further details are not available.

5. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Xie Guifang Arrested; Elderly Ms. Yang’s Home Ransacked

Officers from the the Xiaoxihu Police Station broke into elderly Ms. Yang’s home and ransacked the place on December 8, 2021. They confiscated Falun Gong books, a computer, and a cell phone. They also forcibly took Ms. Xie Guifang, a practitioner who worked as a nanny at Ms. Yang’s home, to the police station. Ms. Xie was handcuffed for 27 hours. She was placed in detention for 15 days.

6. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Yang Fengying Officially Arrested

Ms. Yang Fengying was reported to the police and was arrested by Li Gang, head of the Binhai New Area Domestic Security Division, and others at noon on January 9, 2022. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated photos of the founder of Falun Gong.

The Linghai City Procuratorate officially placed Ms. Yang under arrest on January 14. She is being held in the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center.

7. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Shuhua and Ms. Yang Shujun Harassed

Security police officers, on the afternoon of January 18, 2022, went to the barber shop operated by Ms. Yang Shuhua and Ms. Yang Shujun. The officers harassed the two practitioners and photographed the shop.

8. [Tianjin] Four Practititioners Held in Custody

Ms. Chen Xiulan, Ms. Han Shuyun, Ms. Chen Yuanhua, Ms. Yang Fujing, and Ms. Yang Jinghua from Ninghe District were arrested. Ms. Chen Xiulan was released and the other four practitioners have remained in custody.

9. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Ji Guorong Officially Arrested

Ms. Ji Guorong, 68, was reported to the police, on December 14, 2021, by a villager while she was talking to people about Falun Gong in Jinsheng Village, Jinyuan District. Ms. Ji was arrested and her home ransacked by officers from the Jinsheng Village Police Station and Jinyuan District Police Department.

Ms. Ji was subsequently placed under criminal detention and held in the Taiyuan City No. 3 Detention Center. On December 28, 2021, Ms. Ji was officially placed under arrest.
