(Minghui.org) Below are three letters from Minghui readers who are also Falun Gong practitioners. They and their loved ones celebrated the death of Jiang Zemin, the former Chinese Communist Party (CCP) top leader who initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.

My Husband Dances

When my husband returned home at around 8:00 p.m. on November 30, he was very excited.“Breaking news! Jiang Zemin is dead!” he exclaimed. “Jiang Zemin, 96, died in Shanghai.”
“Is it for real?” I asked.

“Of course, the news is posted in the local teachers’ social media group. Had it not been real, would teacher Wang dare to post such a message openly?” he replied.

I was happy to hear this too and continued reading my book. My husband was so joyful that he began to dance. This is a kind of dance we often teach students to perform during festival celebrations – the students would hold a flower ribbon, stop every two steps, wave their arms in certain ways while singing songs.

My husband danced from one end of the room to the other end and went around the tea table and me before going out of the room. He was also singing, “Jiang Zemin is dead, we are so glad, so glad! Jiang Zemin is dead, we are so glad, so glad!”

I was deeply moved upon seeing my husband singing and dancing like a child. Yes, after witnessing me and other practitioners wrongly persecuted for 23 years, how could he not be happy hearing the news of Jiang’s death? One year, news came that Jiang was dead and my husband even bought fireworks to celebrate. This time the death of the chief perpetrator in the persecution of Falun Gong was confirmed. Of course my husband and tens of millions of practitioners and their family members would be excited.

Celebrations from Shantou City, Guangdong Province

Falun Gong practitioners and their family members in Jinping District of Shantou City, Guangdong Province, celebrated the death of Jiang Zemin.

Family Celebration

I learned of Jiang’s death from online news at 6 p.m. on November 30 and immediately told my family about it. Everyone was thrilled, especially my wife. I’ve never seen her so excited and happy. “It is good that Jiang Zemin has died,” she said. “He should have died long ago. Look, in all these years, my family and other practitioners have suffered so much – loss of jobs, families broken apart, and imprisonment.”

I knew she really meant it. Shortly after Jiang began to suppress Falun Gong in 1999, I was sent to a labor camp for practicing Falun Gong. My family nearly collapsed emotionally and financially (I was the sole breadwinner). My wife also felt like a second-class citizen because the general public had been brainwashed by the authorities to believe Falun Gong practitioners were violating the law and deserved persecution. Because of the discrimination and sarcastic looks from others, she dared not go out and was often in tears. She asked our then-7-year-old granddaughter to go to the nearby market to get groceries.

When her friends sometimes asked her how she pulled through during those years when I was detained, she did not know how to answer because she did not want to recall those painful days. Even seeing police vans nowadays still makes her nervous.... All this was caused by Jiang.

That is why his death was a huge occasion worth celebration for my family. My wife kept applauding as we set off the fireworks.
