Additional Persecution News from China – December 16, 2022 (9 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 8 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Zhao Jiyuan Persecuted in Prison

Mr. Zhao Jiyuan from the Dadong District was previously sentenced and imprisoned for seven years. He was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison again in 2019 and was sent to Jinzhou Prison.

Mr. Zhao was pressured in prison but refused to renounce his belief. His family was not allowed to visit him and he was only allowed to purchase up to 100 yuan of basic living necessities each month. It was recently learned that Mr. Zhao’s life is in danger in the prison.

2. [Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Seven Practitioners Tried in Court

Seven practitioners were tried online by the Dengta Court on the afternoon of December 12, 2022. They are Mr. Zhao Juncheng, Ms. Bao Fengzhi, Ms. Li Ying, Ms. Cui Rong, Mr. Li Peixin, Mr. Wang Cunbo, and Ms. Zhao Junlan. Their family members were not allowed to attend the hearing. The trial will continue on December 19, 2022.

3. [Huachuan County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ling Xianfang Arrested

Ms. Ling Xianfang works at the Huachuan County Credit Union. She was arrested at her mother’s home around November 10, 2022. It is unknown where she is detained.

4. [Qixia City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lin Jianping Faces Trial

Ms. Lin Jianping, 60, was arrested on February 6, 2022, when she tried to clarify the truth to a police officer at the gate of the Qixia City Police Department. She was later placed under 6-month residential surveillance. Her case was submitted to the Qixia City Court on October 21, 2022. She will be tried in court at 2 p.m. on December 19, 2022.

5. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Yu Cuihua Arrested

Three officers surnamed Li, Jiang and Chen from the Xihu District Police Department went to Ms. Yu Cuihua’s home at 9 a.m. on December 15, 2022. They tricked Ms. Yu into opening the door and took her to the police department. Ms. Yu was released that afternoon.

6. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Juxiang and Mr. Hu Yanfeng Arrested

Ms. Li Juxiang, 70, from the Nan district, was arrested at 4 p.m. on December 6, 2022, by plainclothes officers who had been tracking her for a while and found her distributing information about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. She was taken to the Xianggang Zhonglu Police Station for interrogation. She is now placed under residential surveillance.

Six plainclothes officers raided the home of Mr. Hu Yanfeng in Nan District at 4:20 p.m. on December 6, 2022. They confiscated more than 100 Falun Gong books, a computer, CDs, printing paper, etc. Mr. Hu was taken to the police station for interrogation. He did not cooperate with the police and was released at 5 p.m. the next day.

7. [Tianjin] Ms. Han Yuxia and Mr. Guo Deyou Harassed

Officers from the Guajiasi Police Station in Hexi District went to the home of Ms. Han Yuxia and her husband Mr. Guo Deyou on December 14, 2022. The couple was told that they were each fined 1000 yuan because of the Falun Gong-related items confiscated from their home on October 15, 2022. They refused to pay the fines.

8. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Niu Xiaona Faces a Second Trial

Ms. Niu Xiaona will be tried online for the second time on December 21, 2022.

9. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Fu Hong Arrested

Ms. Fu Hong in her 50s lives in Xinjiazhuang, Nan District. She was recorded by surveillance cameras when she talked to people about Falun Gong in public places. Five officers from the Jinmenlu Police Station went to her home and ransacked it around 10 a.m. on December 15, 2022, and then took her away to the police station. The police took away her computer, Falun Gong books, and other belongings.
